Design/methodology/approach-Taking Zhaoyuan County residential buildings as an example, the spatial elements of residential buildings are quantified, and the variation intervals of each spatial element are determined based on this. Then the standard model of residential buildings is constructed, and the changing trend and related mechanism of heating energy consumption and natural lighting under the change of residential space elements are discussed. Findings-The results show that: (1) In terms of heating energy saving, there is an obvious optimal solution between the window wall ratio of the south facade and the orientation of residential buildings. (2) In indoor natural lighting, all spatial elements show positive and negative correlation without considering glare. (3) Building depth, eave height and plane girth area ratio are the key variables affecting heating energy consumption. Window to floor ratio, building eave height, building depth and plane aspect ratio are the key variables that affect indoor lighting. Originality/value-The research results can provide reference for the energy-saving construction of residential buildings in cold areas.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68264557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thermo- and thermophysical properties of waste material were discussed, from the point of view of chemical structure and the influence of experimental parameters on the conversion process. It was established that acetyl groups of plasticizer (triacetin, TAC) interact with cellulose acetate (CAc) through dipolar interactions and hydrogen bonding?s. Influence of these polar interactions can affect the position of glass transition temperature (Tg) of CBF. Based on estimated value of Tg from DSC analysis, it was found that CAc present in CBF has degree of substitution (DS) equals to 2.8 (DS = 2.8), where the presence of cellulose triacetate (CTA) was confirmed. It was assumed that an increase of DS leads to decline in the crystallinity. A decline of crystallinity causes the reduction of hydroxyl groups, leading to less organized chains, and whereby decreasing of inter-molecular interactions through hydrogen bonding. Based on the examination of thermophysical characteristics of the tested material, it was found that both, the heat capacity and the thermal inertia (TI) of material linearly increase with temperature, during pyrolysis progression. It was concluded that the type of bio-char produced in this process would have a large capacity to store the heat, which may depend on the formed particles size diameter and porosity. Furthermore, it was inferred that magnitude drops of thermal conductivity (?) after Tg depends on the material fibrillation.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68264624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our numer?ical procedure is based on Bernstein polynomials. The mentioned polynomials are non-orthogonal and have the ability to produce good numerical results as compared to some other numerical method like wavelet. By variable fractional order differentiation and integration, some operational matrices are formed. On using the obtained matrices, the proposed coupled system is reduced to a system of algebraic equations. Using MATLAB, we solve the given equation for required results. Graphical presentations and maximum absolute errors are given to illustrate the results. Some useful features of our sachem are those that we need no discretization or collocation technique prior to develop operational matrices. Due to these features the computational complexity is much more reduced. Further, the efficacy of the procedure is enhanced by increasing the scale level. We also compare our results with that of Haar wavelet method to justify the useful?ness of our adopted method.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68265309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reliable and powerful method, namely the Improved Bernoulli sub equation function method, is applied to investigate some solitary wave, traveling wave and periodic solutions to the aforementioned model which is crucial significance because the model is in the fields of quantum mechanics and energy spectrum. The obtained solutions are new and significant in revealing the pertinent features of the physical phenomenon. Moreover, gotten solutions have been plotted in several kinds, such as in 3-D or 2-D. The impacts of the time evolution are offered in 2-D graphs for visual observation of the properties of the solutions.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68265767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operational matrix of Bernstein polynomials is derived for variable order derivatives w.r.t. time and space. The Bernstein operational matrix and collocation technique are applied to the concerned non-linear physical model to achieve a system of non-linear algebraic equations, which are further solved by using Newton method. A few examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and stability of the scheme by comparing L2 and L? norm errors between the obtained numerical solutions and existing solutions. The important feature of this article is the graphical exhibitions of the effects of variable order derivatives on the solutions of the considered non-linear coupled reaction-diffusion equation for different particular cases.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68266139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method explores to solve a system of ODE expressed as an infinite series. These series components are easily determined. The presented method?s effectiveness and reliability are shown using a numerical example, and the consequences are evaluated to those acquired from different techniques in the research using tables and graphs. The proposed method has no assumptions about small or large parameters, and the technique?s accuracy increases when the order of approximation is increased. The results reveal that the approximate solution obtained through the use of Taylor's series method is more reliable and accurate.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68266470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thermophotovoltaic technology can convert solar radiation energy or high-temperature combustion energy into radiation energy with reshaped spectrum for direct photovoltaic power generation. In this study, a meta-material structure composed of metal Ta and dielectric SiO2 is innovatively proposed for shaping narrowband radiation. The results show that the optimized spectral emittance peak of narrowband emitters reaches 0.9998. Narrowband emitter has advantages at high temperatures above 1000 K. The thermophotovoltaic efficiency of InGaAsSb cell and tandem Si/InGaAsSb cells can reach more than 41.67% and 46.26%, respectively. It is significantly higher than published thermophotovoltaic system with broadband emitter. This study demonstrates the notable advantages and potential of narrowband emitter for spectrum reshaping, which provides an important reference for future spacecraft power supply as well as space solar power generation.","PeriodicalId":23125,"journal":{"name":"Thermal Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68250464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper investigates experimentally and numerically the cell temperature and relative humidity which have a significant influence on the PEMFC current density. These parameters are adjusted simultaneously and dynamically during operation. A 50 cm2 active area single-cell PEMFC with serpentine flow channel was studied. In order to confirm the experimental measurements, a mathematical model was established using the MATLpackage program and the results were compared.
