Para isso, lançamos três questões: quais características são atribuídas ao termo “dicionário(s) pedagógico(s)” quando usamos a metodologia/abordagem da Linguística de Corpus? The following three questions guide this study: which characteristics are attributed to the term “pedagogical dictionary(ies)” when using Corpus Linguistic methods? Are these characteristics in line with the lexicographic proposal of the school dictionaries Houaiss Conciso and Novíssimo Aulete? How can the results be related to the role of Applied Linguistics? This study draws on a theoretical framework composed of concepts and principles from Applied Linguistics and Pedagogical Lexicography. As part of the theoretical discussion, a corpus-based definition of “Applied Linguistics” is proposed. To answer the aforementioned questions, it is described in the methodology section the compilation and analysis of a Pedagogical Lexicography corpus, which was carried out by means","PeriodicalId":22890,"journal":{"name":"The SAGE Encyclopedia of Human Communication Sciences and Disorders","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88051215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Informed by instrumental examinations of the laryngeal articulatory mechanism, it revises our understanding of articulatory postures to explain the actions, vibrations and resonances generated in the epilarynx and pharynx. It focuses on the long-term auditory-articulatory component of accent in the languages of the world, explaining how voice quality relates to segmental and syllabic sounds. Phonetic illustrations of phonation types and of laryngeal and oral vocal tract articulatory postures are provided. Extensive video and audio material is available on a companion website. The book presents computational simulations, the laryngeal and voice quality foundations of infant speech acquisition, speech/voice disorders and surgeries that entail compensatory laryngeal articulator adjustment, and an exploration of the role of voice quality in sound change and of the larynx in the evolution of speech.","PeriodicalId":22890,"journal":{"name":"The SAGE Encyclopedia of Human Communication Sciences and Disorders","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89706408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
