Based on the key theorem, the bounds of uniform convergence have significant meaning. These bounds determine generalization ability of the learning machines utilizing the empirical risk minimization induction principle. In this paper, the bounds on the risk for sets of unbounded nonnegative functions on possibility space are discussed, and the rate of uniform convergence is estimated.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131843571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, the basic link analysis model has drawn much attention due to its' mutual reinforcement principle which appears to be sound for the generic summarization task. In this paper, we explore effective strategies for extending the basic link analysis model to question-oriented multi-document summarization. Three kinds of strategies, namely link re-weighting, baseset downsizing and projection, are proposed to introduce question-dependent similarity metric, adjust the node number and refine the ranking process respectively. Experimental results evaluated on the DUC data sets demonstrate that these three strategies can achieve better results.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128778565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method can select maritime search and rescue targets from textured sea scenes. Firstly, intensity component is obtained and is decomposed using SVD. The first 80% singular components are combined to represent the dominant pattern of input image. Secondly, spectral residual approach and phase spectrum approach are applied to the difference between intensity component and corresponding dominant pattern. The resulting saliency maps show the salient region in maritime search and rescue visual scene and there by target detection performed.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126635433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the considerations of economy, we integrate the sensory systems and the balancing control systems by utilizing an embedded system based on the SUNPLUSTM SPCE061A EMU board and a CPLD, Altera EPM7128SLC84. There are three points for our design. First, since the system is unstable in nature, it can be used as a teaching aid in the control-related courses to demonstrate the design of various control schemes with fuzzy controller. Second, motion with the self-balancing capability is novel and interesting and has potential to be a toy. In addition, this trial can provide a prototype to verify the techniques and allow the possibility for carry one person development of a commercial two-wheel vehicle in the future.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126726872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our system is composed of the following four components: 1) Text analysis, 2) Mandarin to Hakka word translation, 3) Prosody prediction, and 4) Speech generation module. More than 2427 monosyllabic speech units and 2234 word speech units of Hakka and several silences with various durations have been recorded as basic units for speech synthesis. We focus on adding breaks to speeches, with emphasis on predicting the types of break. There are three kinds of breaks: major break, minor break and no-break between words. We train a break model and predict break based on the data mining approaches — Bayesian network (BN) and CART classifier. The best precision rate for testing achieves 80.17% based on the CART. Fourteen students familiar with Hakka joined to evaluate the prosody quality of synthesized speeches. The results with 10 scale achieves 7.54 score in average. Based on the comprehensive evaluation, it is obvious that our system can synthesize the clear and natural Hakka's speeches.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126528675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various types of engineering teams with different get-in and get-off times to the fields are considered. The fitness function is to minimize the engineering days, the outage loading, the difference of working time among the crews, and the distances of routings. Improved crossover rules and a weighted dynamic mutation method are presented. The transportation time and distance obtained from Google-Maps are integrated in the scheduling approach. Smartphones are exploited in the fields to communicate with the dispatching center with the scheduling displayed on the Google-Maps. Simulation results for a sample distribution system are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the study.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126666408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cost down of general cameras makes it feasible to have an intelligent system of visual-based event detection in front for forward collision avoidance and mitigation. When driving at nighttime, vehicles in front are generally visible by their taillights. Therefore, in this paper, a computational system, which is referred to as the dynamic visual system, is proposed to detect and analyze the taillights of the vehicles in front in spatiotemporal domain, and then extract corresponding contextual information. Predefined critical contextual information of nearby vehicles can be used for driver-assistance systems to convey a warning. Experiment from extensive dataset shows that our proposed system can effectively extract critical contextual information under different lighting and traffic conditions, and thus prove its feasibility in real-world environments.","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"2 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114095394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a new cluster ensemble approach named as the neural gas based cluster ensemble algorithm (NGCEA) for class discovery from biological meaningful data, NGCEA first adopts the perturbed function to generate a set of new datasets. Then, it proposes to adopt the neural gas algorithm to obtain the clustering solutions from the perturbed datasets, In the following, NGCEA views the row of each clustering solution as the new features, and forms a new dataset. Finally, it adopts the neural gas algorithm as consensus function to perform clustering again on the new dataset and obtains the final result. The experiments in cancer datasets show that (i)NGCEA works well on most of cancer datasets (ii) NGCEA outperforms most of the state-of-the-art cluster ensemble algorithms when applied to gene expression data","PeriodicalId":228516,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121483276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
