If lactic acidosis persists, mitochondrial disorders and other inborn errors of metabolism should be considered. The work-up for metabolic diseases is extensive, but a detailed history can guide us through the maze of metabolic defects. Case Report We present a case of a 9-week-old girl, ex-37-week gestation, admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit with lethargy and symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection. The HPV vaccine protects against 9 oncogenic strains of HPV, including HPV-16 & 18, which cause 70% of cervical cancers. It is the only available vaccine that prevents cancer, including cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile, anal, and oropharyngeal cancers. The American Cancer Society recommends the vaccine for boys and girls ages 9-45, yet less than 50% are vaccinated.
