Thus, there is a current trend on finding a centimetric accuracy three-dimension optical indoor positioning system using LEDs and photodiodes. There are several works that rely on encoding techniques to distinguish between transmitters. Due to the simultaneous reception, interferences between the cross-correlation signals may appear (Multiple Access Interference, MAI). In this way, the implemented encoding technique is crucial to remove the existent Multiple Access Interference (MAI) effect. In this work, Kasami, LS (Loosely Synchronized) and T-ZCZ (Three Zero-Correlation Zone) sequences with different lengths from 71 to 1024 bits have been analysed with the final goal of mitigating the MAI effect in the estimation of the receiver’s position. Simulations and experimental results, at a distance of 2m between transmitters and receiver, prove a better behaviour with the 1151-bit LS sequences achieving standard deviations below 0.25cm for plane XY and average absolute errors below 0.3 and 7.4cm in simulations and experimental tests, respectively.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122130008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach has been also used to set an interpolation in a certain range of condition when the temperature of tests is changed. The case study refers to the degradation assessment of ultrasonic sensors for distance measurement, which is ascribed to the quality decay of solder joints due to cracks or remarkable shrink holes. The components are subjected to ALT cyclic thermal stresses. The results of tests allowed to gaining information about the validation of a model of fault, useful to design accelerated tests at higher temperatures.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123953774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that scenario, the medical telemetry network plays a vital role. So, it is intended to develop a medical body area network for remote health care monitoring utilizing cognitive radio methods. A Medical Body Area Network (MBAN) consists of multiple sensor nodes, these nodes may be wearable and implantable devices and by using this device we get the patient physiological data and each having the capability of sampling, processing and communicating with vital signals. Medical Telemetry is a technology, it involves information processing and communication technologies to utilize in healthcare services. In wireless communications, medical telemetry plays a vital role to use in health care applications like telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, etc., Spectrum sensing is one of the cognitive radio methods, it can be used in the field of medical telemetry. Spectrum sensing using an energy detection technique can be used in medical telemetry for health care monitoring. The proposed implementation finds an immediate application in the development of smart cities and smart hospitals. Here, we use a Modified Normalized LMS algorithm for this purpose. Problems of energy detection and measurement lead to spectrum sensing in a telemetry network that can be solved by the proposed method. Results show that the performance of Modified Normalized LMS gives better simulations in terms of detection probability (Pd) and false alarm (Pf).","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128549041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intelligent sampling technique is used to expose signal information in a way to facilitate the inference of knowledge. The goal is to assess, by observing the first few seconds of P-wave, whether the incoming earthquake is destructive or not, and to generate an alert or eventually take action. Once the proposed method has been developed, performance results obtained using real seismic data from open-access databases are presented, thereby validating the effectiveness of the proposed method in estimating seismic magnitude. Since real-time and device interoperability are critical aspects in applications such as seismic detection, the suitability and compatibility of the proposed method with the IEEE1451 family of standards are demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128184835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This dispersion mechanism demonstrates dielectric relaxation due to the interaction between electromagnetic field and biological samples at cellular levels. Hence, biological impedance spectroscopy may be used to reveal the electrical and geometrical properties of biological samples, in particular, frozen-thaw injury. Frozen-thaw injury is known as one of the most common factors that can influence the bio-impedance spectroscopy of biological samples. However, the mechanism of how frozen-thaw injury influences the bio-impedance spectroscopy at cellular levels has not been analysed. In this paper, the influence of frozen-thaw injury on beta dispersion was experimentally investigated using the AC conduction (contact electrode) method on potato and pork samples. From the results of the experiment, we assumed that frozen-thaw injury mainly influences the impedance spectroscopy of a potato and pork by breaking their cell membranes. In light of this assumption, a novel FEM model to simulate membrane breakage was developed and a microscopic experiment was then carried out to identify the membrane integrity. In this paper, the influence of frozen-thaw injury on dielectric properties of biological cells suspension was simulated using a custom developed FEM solver and an originally designed cell model. In its 2D version, the AC conduction case was simulated. Then, in the attempt to confirm the assumption, a microscopic experiment was conducted to determine if the cell membrane was broken or not. The measurement and simulation results suggest that bio-impedance measurements provide an indication of cellular structural changes of biological samples, which could be useful for biomedical, pharmaceutical and food inspection applications.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128687705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach based on the GUM uncertainty framework has been implemented to characterize and combine the different contributions. Particular attention has been paid towards cross-talk effects, which can be not negligible above all in multiplexed data-acquisition systems. The uncertainty analysis is described for a commercial data acquisition board, whose cross-talk specification is not suitable for a reliable uncertainty estimation in operating conditions. For this reason, an experimental characterization of the board has been performed and the obtained results are provided. These results highlight that a proper characterization of a data-acquisition system is effective in estimating the actual performance at the operating frequency and provide valuable information in terms of source resistance and input-channel configuration that make cross-talk effects negligible.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129609959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to investigate the influence of the liquid temperature on the wave characteristics in the free-falling film that is subjected to the sensible heating, instantaneous measurements of the film thickness using planar laser-induced fluorescence are performed. Experiments are carried out at liquid temperature that ranges from 24 °C to 52 °C. The spatiotemporal flow structure of falling film is reconstructed and analyzed at different temperatures. It is found that the frequency and the amplitudes of the large waves change with the temperature simultaneously, and the substrate regions become more smoother and wider with the temperature rising. The profiles of film thickness probability density function and the power spectrum density function are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":227967,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127513630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
