The term ‘phthisis’, i.e. consumption, appears first in the Greek literature. Around 460 BCE, Hippocrates identified phthisis as the most widespread disease of the times, and noted that it was almost always fatal. Due to common phthisis-related fatalities, he wrote something no doctor would dare write today; he warned his colleagues against visiting TB patients in late stages of the disease, because their inevitable deaths might damage the reputations of the attending physicians. Exact pathological and anatomical descriptions of the disease began to appear in the 17th century. In his Opera Medica of 1679, Sylvius was the first to identify actual tubercles as a consistent and characteristic change in the lungs and other areas of consumptive patients. He also described their progression to abscesses and cavities. The earliest references to the infectious nature of the disease appeared in the 17th century Italian medical literature. Although victims of TB occur all over the globe, this disease posses a tough challenge in the developing countries, which accounts for about 95% of all TB cases.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134200694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However some of them were keenly interested in historical pursuits, as such they provide different source-materials both literary and archaeological. The main thrust of these early authors of historical works was a dynastic account of deferent ruling dynasties and their system of administration. This approach continued for a long time till the freedom movement of India gained momentum in late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, it is an uncountable fact that the Awadh sector of India had played a very important role in first revolt against Britishers. In 1857, Awadh was a large land of Nawabs synonymous with lavish extravogenure and is well known for its ‘tehzeeb’ of extreme delicacy and culivated manners. The present paper deals with the reappraisal of the revolt of 1857 and public reaction of Awadh based on the secondary sources of data collection.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115043719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of greater access to knowledge and resources, greater autonomy in decision-making to enable them to have greater ability to plan their lives or to have greater control over the circumstances that influence their lives and free from shocks imposed on them by custom, belief and practice. The status of the women is connected with their economic position or status which depends on their participation in economic activities such as ability to access credit, role in decision-making in financial matters and others. Social or domestic empowerment is a gradual process. Some variables had been selected to assess the impact of social empowerment among the informants in this paper, for example independent movement, expression of own view, undertaking decisions in familial matters, interaction with public bodies, participation in protest against social crimes and so on. The present qualitative has been conducted in the villages Amlani and Takipur of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The study is based on typical anthropological methodology under the domain of ethnographic approach. The contextual data have been collected through participant observations, intensive interviews and case studies. The data from books, journals, magazines and internet websites have also been utilised.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115619614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Brahmins have several categories according to their specific duties and performances. Gayawal is a Brahmin category, which is known for their specific duty which subsist their responsibility for the completion of Sharaddha, a very specific performance for the Hindus considered as pious. They inhabit in a very exclusive area of the Gaya city called as Ander Gaya. Despite their exclusive inhabitation, they maintain good and soft contact with outside world. In this pape article, the author attempted to present the social life of Gayawals. For the convenience of the reader, the data is divided into two universes: one is their family universe and the other is outside universe.
