Habitat of the disease is most frequently liver, followed by lungs; intracardiac occurrence is rare. When it occurs, cardiac involvement is more common in left ventricle, where blood supply is intense. Disease is extremely rare in right atrium. While following case at clinic with diagnosis of bilateral pulmonary hydatid cyst, right atrium involvement was incidentally found. Since hydatid cyst disease with intracardiac localization is rarely seen, present report was prepared in order to draw attention to importance of thorough diagnosis and treatment of these patients. Impairment of various mechanisms and agents of humoral and cellular immune systems can be expected. Disturbances of platelet function, coagulation factors, and vascular structure predispose diabetics to thrombotic events. The course of both infections and thrombotic events is often worse than in non-diabetic patients. Presently described is 94-year-old male patient with diabetes who had orbital cellulitis that became complicated with cavernous sinus thrombosis (CST). He was admitted to endocrinology clinic with diagnoses of orbital cellulitis, urinary tract infection, hyperosmolar non-ketotic state, acute renal failure, and compensated metabolic acidosis secondary to uremia. Despite immediate antibiotherapy, hydration, and additional required treatment, patient did not respond and died as a result of CST. There must be awareness, especially for diabetic patients, that orbital infections may spread to nearby cavernous sinuses and cause potentially lethal septic CST. Early diagnosis and immediate treatment are essential. Cervical pregnancy is seen in 1/25001/12000 pregnancies (0.15% of all ectopic pregnancies).[1] Diagnosis of this rarely seen ectopic pregnancy is made based on Ushakov criteria:[2] 1) Gestational sac is localized in the endocervix, 2) intact cervical canal is found between gestational sac and endometrium, 3) invasion of endocervical tissue by trophoblasts, 4) presence of an empty uterine cavity, 5) presence of endometrial decidualization, 6) uterus resembling hourglass. Presently discussed is case of cervical ectopic pregnancy treated successfully with McDonald cerclage and ligation of branches of cervical uterine artery.","PeriodicalId":22729,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Kartal Training and Research Hospital","volume":"60 5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79758779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
