The estimated value of -52‰ is precisely the same as the average δD value of sericite of -52‰. Since there is no D/H fractionation between sericite and magnesian chlorite according to Kuroda et al. (1986b) and the formation temperature of the sericite and chlorite is estimated to be the same, the water responsible for both the sericitization and chloritization in the Rendaiji mine should be the same so far as the δD value is concerned.Using the δD value of sericite (average -52‰), we calculated the δD value of the water participated in both the sericitization and chloritization to be -12‰ on the basis of the D/H fractionation factor experimentally determined by O'Neil and Kharaka (1976), or -25_??_-28‰ based on that estimated by Marumo et al. (1980) from the natural samples. The δD value of the water estimated above is definitely higher than that of the contemporary local meteoric water. The δD value of the water extracted from fluid inclusions in the quartz associated with sericitization, -53_??_-63‰, is much lower than that of the water associated with sericitization.","PeriodicalId":22709,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the Japanese Association of Mineralogists,Petrologists and Economic Geologists","volume":"18 1","pages":"16-22"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83595056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rocks are divided into two groups onthe basis of Rb-Sr isotopic nature; five samples of granitic rocks near the Marumori Bridge, which is hereby named the Marumoribashi granite, give a Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron age of 111.6±2.4 Ma with an initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.70645±0.00009, whereas all other samples give an age of 106.4±3.5 Ma with an initial ratio of 0.70553±0.00010. Thus the Marumoribashi granite isslightly but significantly older than and genetically different from other granitic rocks of theMarumori district. The mineral isochrons with biotite, K-feldspar, plagioclase and whole-rock give ages of 98.8±4.5 Ma for a sample of the Marumoribashi granite and 99.3±2.0Ma for that of the other group, both of which are identical to each other and slightly younger than the whole-rock ages.","PeriodicalId":22709,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the Japanese Association of Mineralogists,Petrologists and Economic Geologists","volume":"121 1","pages":"36-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90269507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Rb-Sr whole rock isochron of the ophiolite gives an age of 281±8 Ma which shows a magmatic one, and the initial Sr isotopic ratio is 0, 70359±04 which is slightly higher than those of modern MORE and marginal sea basalt. The high initial Sr isotopic ratio may result from the derivation of the marginal sea mantle previously contaminated by the subduction components having high Sr isotopic ratio. The magmatic age is almost identical with the metamorphic age (270-290Ma), This suggests that the Ibara ophiolite was metamorphosed soon after solidification of the magma.","PeriodicalId":22709,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the Japanese Association of Mineralogists,Petrologists and Economic Geologists","volume":"340 1","pages":"1-15"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89617345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Aoso-Osore zone, including Aoso, Nanashigure, Osore and Easan volcanoes, are situated at the closest side to the trench. Total volume of the eruptive materials of this zone is much less than that of the Sekiryo zone. No hydrous phenocrystic minerals occur in the volcanic rocks of the Sekiryo zone, while hornblende phenocryst is recognized in the andesites of the Aoso-Osore zone. Liquidus temperature of hornblende is kept relatively constant as the water content of magma varies. Accordingly, magmatic temperature of the Aoso-Osore zone is lower than that of the Sekiryo zone. The K2O content of the volcanic rocks of the Aoso-Osore zone is lower than that of the Sekiryo zone at the same SiO2 content, indicating that the nature of magmas of these two zones are different to each other. Thus the volcanic front of the Northeast Honshu are is revised to lie at the Aoso-Osore zone. At the front, volume of magma was small and temperature was low compared with those of the Sekiryo zone. These facts support the hypothesis that the volcanic front represents the limit of magma generation controlled by temperature and/or pressure profile of the wedge mantle of the arc.","PeriodicalId":22709,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the Japanese Association of Mineralogists,Petrologists and Economic Geologists","volume":"3 1 1","pages":"471-478"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78288610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The activators of Mn, Ni and V with the transition of 3d-3d electrons, and the activators of Ca, Zn, Ba, Sc and P with electron-hole centers also may contribute to the formation of the type III luminescence. Natural zircons have usually the type II luminescence with varying proportions of the type I or the type III luminescences. Natural zircon gives complex absorption spectra related to the type II luminescence. To characterize natural zircons, the latter luminescence spectra can be sensitively and easily detectable rather than the absorption spectra Also, the type II spectra show remarkable extinctionrestoration phenomena by the heat-treatment, and show the displacement of those band positions as the crystallographic direction changes (pleochroism of the luminescence). Color and luminescence of natural zircon are mainly caused by these luminescent centers identical to color centers.","PeriodicalId":22709,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the Japanese Association of Mineralogists,Petrologists and Economic Geologists","volume":"1 1","pages":"433-445"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80471930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
