However, significant amount of water is lost daily in many countries through broken and leaking pipes. This paper investigates the use of low and high resolution infrared systems to detect water leakage in relatively dry countries. The overall aim is to develop a non-contact and high speed system that could be used to detect leakage in pipes remotely via the effect of the change in humidity on the temperature of the ground due to evaporation. A small scale experimental test rig has been constructed to simulate water leakage in The Great Man-Made River Project in Libya, taking into consideration the dryness level of the desert sand and the scaled dimensions of the system. The results show that the infrared technology is an effective technology in detecting water leakage in pipes. The low resolution system has been found as valuable as the high resolution system in detecting water leakage. The results indicate the possibility of distant remote detection of leakage in water systems using infrared technologies which could be mobilised using drones, helium balloons, aeroplanes or other similar technologies.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130104189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DC/DC converters are connected in parallel to share the same load. The control signals are distributed through wires. The wiring increases the complexity and reduces the reliability. The recent advances in shared wireless networks made them viable and cheap alternative to direct wiring. Distributing the control signals over shared networks reduces the complexity in the wiring and enhances the reliability. Transmitting control signals through shared network induces time delay and data loss which may destabilize the system. These imperfections make the system stochastic and in many cases these imperfection can be modeled using Markov chains. This paper presents the stabilization of parallel DC/DC converters over stochastic nondeterministic network represented by Markov chains.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122750868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results presented in this paper are based on a comprehensive study that was carried out using 8,538 text samples from these five forums. The sample topics are categorized into nine categories: political, social, economic, academic, religious, scientific, sports, arts, and others. The effect of topic is analyzed on several Arabic language aspects including the language whether Arabic, English, or mixed; the alphabet whether Arabic, English, or Arabizi; the dialect whether standard, colloquial, or mixed; the use of symbols; the style whether normal, metaphor, cynical, vulgar, or other; and the text cohesion level. This paper shows that there are large differences found in these six language aspects among the nine topic categories. Most notably, standard and refined language is common in serious topics such as religion and politics. Colloquial Arabic dialect and weak cohesion with Arabizi alphabet is common in casual topics such as social and academic topics.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"314 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115969568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy management is based on the use of a hybrid storage system. The Ultra Capacitors are used for facing high frequency variation of the load, such as in transient state, while the batteries are in charge of slow load /source variations. Then early ageing of the batteries are avoided. The advanced control system proposed in this study allows to choose the suitable storage element in order to face correctly the production/consummation variation. The whole system, including PV generator, hybrid storage system and a realistic load, all connected to a common DC-bus, is first modeled. The simulations by using Matlab are then carried out which confirm the good performances of the proposed energy management and associated control system.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123162139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This attack is the underlying infrastructure for many other network attacks, such as, man in the middle, denial of service and session hijacking. In this paper we propose a new algorithm to resolve the problem of ARP spoofing. The algorithm can be applied in two different scenarios. The two scenarios are based on whether a network host will be assigned a dynamic or a static IP address. We call the first scenario SDN_DYN; the second scenario is called SDN_STA. For the evaluation process, a physical SDN-enabled switch has been utilized with Ryu controller. Our results show that the new algorithm can prevent ARP spoofing and other attacks exploiting it.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116782101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Robots moving in an environment face many challenges such as avoiding obstacles. Path planning aims at directing the robot to reach a target via a collision-free path. Online Path Planning allows robots to move in an environment they do not have prior knowledge about and ought to discover while moving. This paper introduces, PSO-AG, an online multi robot path planning algorithm that combines the benefits of particle swarm optimization and Agoraphilic algorithms. In PSO-AG, particle swarm optimization works as the moving path planner that decides the next point for the robots to reach the target, and Agoraphilic works as the moving controller that steers the robots towards the target while avoiding obstacles along the path. Simulation was used to evaluate the performance of PSO-AG in different scenarios; including different sizes of robots swarms and different levels of environment difficulty; ranging from obstacle-free to partially obstructed environment. Experiments showed promising results of PSO-AG's scalability and target reaching rate.","PeriodicalId":227019,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128554774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
