In the receiver, the minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter based equalizer and channel decoding are jointly optimized in an iterative process. Also, linear channel estimation is performed iteratively using a soft input recursive least squares algorithm with modified cost function. Simulation results for time-invariant and for both MAP and SOVA decoding are also presented.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127198227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They achieve a good quality of transmission by using a large bandwidth and small emitted energy. The deficiency of such systems is that they have a spectrum with energy concentrated at discrete points. These discrete frequency energy components generate interferences to narrowband systems operating in the same frequency interval, denying harmless coexistence. At the current date there is no complete formula for the power spectral density of the PPM signals which we could use to ascertain the size of this interference. We will present a method for the calculus of the PPM spectrum which will give an exact image of the signals' power spectral density.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125651563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pausible clock based GLAS systems use an on-chip clock generator to generate pausible clock pulses whereas gated clock based GALS systems use an off-chip clock signal that is gated whenever asynchronous data communication is required. These two design schemes have been examined on Viterbi error detection and correction circuit. While using on-chip pausible clocks in plausible GALS wrappers leads to a tradeoff between robustness and performance, it has been shown that both performance and robustness can be improved by using the gated clock scheme. In addition, the area overhead of gated clock based GALS Viterbi was less than the area overhead of pausible clock based GALS Viterbi.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130429190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach promotes log-domain computation to eliminate all multiplications, divisions and exponentiations utilizing the effective logarithmic estimation modules. An optimized quadrant symmetric architecture is incorporated into the design of homomorphic filter for the enhancement of intensity value. Efficient modules are also presented for conversion between RGB and HSV color spaces. The design is able to bring out details hidden in shadow regions of the image. It is capable of producing 187.86 million outputs per second (MOPs) on Xilinx's Virtex II XC2V2000-4ff896 field programmable gate array (FPGA) at a clock frequency of 187.86 MHz. It can process over 179.1 (1024 X 1024) frames per second and consumes approximately 70.7% and 76.8% less hardware resource with 127% and 280% performance boost when compared to the designs with machine learning algorithm [10], and with separated dynamic and contrast enhancements [11], respectively.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131375849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An electrical foot reflexology stimulator has been developed on the basics of foot reflexology massage and electroacupuncture. The device consists of a battery and a boost converter, the control-electronic and n electrodes. It is developed for the application of a changing current flow through the human body within the range of the foot reflex zones. Because of various control possibilities the proposed device is very flexible. A software controls the user parameters and offers an independent current control mode. This is very important for the user's safety. The possibility to change frequency, current or waveform in a wide range is a good argument for medically skilled and technically unskilled persons to use this device. This helps to establish new alternative medicine methods which have no or less interaction to other medicines.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131506943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A maximum likelihood (ML) approach is adopted, followed by the presentation of some two-steps techniques. The TDoA estimation is carried out using a correlation technique and a super-resolution method - root multiple signal classification (MUSIC). The source is relatively narrowband and it operates over a wireless channel with a dense multipath environment following the COST-207 channel model. The performance of the source location techniques is evaluated in terms of the root mean square error (rMSE) of the transmitter's position for given placements of the sensors. A precision contour-map provides a graphic, two-dimensional representation of the source location accuracy as a function of the source location and the location of the sensors.","PeriodicalId":225101,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121758146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
