The points of interest should be easily computable and are invariant to transformations in the image domain. This paper presents a novel interest point detector based on a graph centrality measure defined over the Laplacian energy of the local image network. The proposed method considers the local circular neighborhood of each pixel and associates this with an undirected graph or network. Euclidean distance is employed to connect pixels to form graph edges. The Laplacian energy of the graph will drop when a vertex is removed from it. This relative reduction indicates the significance of that vertex in the network. Graph vertices having higher values of Laplacian centrality are identified as central most nodes. This measure of pixel significance indicates the presence of interest points. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach in detecting local points of high entropy values are demonstrated by the experiments conducted on standard datasets. The visual assessment of the identified interest points correlates with the coverage value calculated. Moreover, the proposed method shows stable results in the presence of geometric transformations such as rotation, viewpoint changes, and zooms. These results provide substantial evidence of the proposed interest point detector's utility in image processing applications such as image registration, object recognition, and image matching, etc.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133359478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel algorithm for low-level visual feature extraction has been presented, highlighting non-linear morphological operations with structuring, filtering, erosion and dilation techniques. Filtering and enhancement of raw image for key feature extraction and recognition by edges by sobel, canny and Fuzzy logic, convolution, median filtering and scaling image for boosting visual spatial features has been performed. Template matching using thresholding by effective feature mapping and semantic feature matching methods with pre-fed datasets has been accomplished as an application to image computing. The results obtained are tabulated and an accuracy of 79.30% using the above mentioned algorithm is reported. The images henceforth have been exposed to standard channel noises and thereafter compared for loss of information and overall structure. Comparison methodologies used are MSE and PSNR values and Structured Similarity Index (SSIM). The accuracy of results thus obtained are reported, suggesting the robustness and effectiveness of the algorithm. Image acquisition is accomplished by a remotely controlled android platform based device integrated with the MATLAB platform in real-time. The acquired number-plate data is transferred into a text file for creating a vehicle index log, critical for security systems.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123878606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It guides the garbage-trucks to collect the garbage only from those areas where the bin is critically filled. The ‘machine-learning’ concept has been used to gather information about the waste generation habits in that region and hence predict the amount of waste that will be generated in the near future. Apart from that, the analysis of the continuous data is also done that has been sent over the cloud in the form of graphs. The email alert and the text message have also been sent automatically to the concerned authorities once the level of waste in the dustbin crosses the threshold as set by the authorities. This would save time and money of the authorities considerably. This would also reduce air pollution in the area and prevent spreading of diseases caused by unpicked waste.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130010361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method uses Radio signals to scan an area to localize the target. The Geometric Filter (GF) algorithm discussed in this paper is one of the approaches which uses Received Signal Strength (RSS) in the links as a metric and gives better tracking performance using only simple computations based on geometric objects. This method performs better than others with lower tracking errors and with huge improvement in average execution time. This paper analyses the Geometric Filter algorithm with performance evaluation in different number of nodes and with measurement noise. An improvement is also suggested.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123917289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the issue of power allocation in IDMA is analyzed and an algorithm for optimal power allocation is introduced. The advantage of this algorithm is that it determines the optimal power allocation from information theory point of view with low computational cost. Furthermore, based on the optimal power allocation the maximum number of users that can use the same channel is determined. In the end, some numerical evaluations are presented to show the performance of IDMA with optimal power allocation in various circumstances. Throughout the paper, the turbo code scheme that is used in LTE is considered as the error correction code of IDMA. It is shown that with power optimization, IDMA can accommodate more users in the same channel while retaining a minimum required SNR for all users, thus increase the capacity and channel utilization.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127835353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we investigate performance of a Multi Carrier Spread Spectrum system (MC-SS). The Principle of MC-SS system is to spread a data sequence by a given spreading sequence in frequency domain and allow it to modulate N subcarriers instead of one carrier. The idea is to combine such scheme with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for efficient use of spectrum. Since OFDM makes use of overlapping subcarriers in frequency domain. The system consists of combination of Multiple Inputs and Multiple Outputs (MIMO) communication with Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplexing modulation scheme to provide significant increase in a system data rate, bandwidth efficiency and Quality of service (QOS). One of the important advantages of receiver structure is spatial diversity obtained by Maximum Ratio Combiner (MRC). In order to recover original information, Maximum Ratio Combiner do the phase corrected weighted addition of signals transmitted through each branch. The BER analysis is conducted for the system under different channel conditions and with different number of subcarriers. It is observed that for higher values of subcarriers and diversity, system performance in terms of BER is improved. The result shows that BER is proportional to the size M of the mapping technique used in the system.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127230115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reliable emotion based classification systems can go a long way in helping us parse their meaning. However, research in the field of emotion-based music classification has not yielded optimal results. In this paper, we present an affective cross-platform music player, EMP, which recommends music based on the real-time mood of the user. EMP provides smart mood based music recommendation by incorporating the capabilities of emotion context reasoning within our adaptive music recommendation system. Our music player contains three modules: Emotion Module, Music Classification Module and Recommendation Module. The Emotion Module takes an image of the user's face as an input and makes use of deep learning algorithms to identify their mood with an accuracy of 90.23%. The Music Classification Module makes use of audio features to achieve a remarkable result of 97.69% while classifying songs into 4 different mood classes. The Recommendation Module suggests songs to the user by mapping their emotions to the mood type of the song, taking into consideration the preferences of the user.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133213631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has led to third and fourth generation wireless systems, which has been providing good range, reliability and higher data rates. For the increased demand of much higher data rates, coverage, spectral efficiency, capacity and reduced latency, the evolution of the next generation i.e., the fifth generation technology is necessary. Massive MIMO technology is one of the most promising solution for the above-mentioned challenge. In massive MIMO, the base station is incorporated with hundreds to thousands of antenna array wherein the degrees of freedom can be exploited and the energy can be efficiently used due to the fact that the extra antennas at the base station helps focus the energy into the smaller regions of space. To reap the benefits provided by the extra antennas, the channel information is necessary which makes it possible to have a reliable communication. Therefore, to acquire the channel knowledge, channel state information is required at the base station and estimating the channel parameters plays an important role. In this paper, we concentrate on estimating the channel parameters for conventional MIMO and massive MIMO based on training-based and blind channel estimation techniques wherein the performance of both is compared.","PeriodicalId":224631,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132890723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
