Environmental studies among children are still limited, especially in context of Malaysia. The usage of mobile devices among the children are high, and the exposure to mobile phone occurs at young age with the parental guidance. The early exposure is due to parent acknowledgment on the important to expose them with new technologies and to have hands-on over the technology for educational purposes. The preliminary findings obtained from a pilot study of 52 schoolchildren from a school in Perak state, Malaysia as indicated that students show high interest in using mobile application for education purposes. Despite lacking in environmental awareness, the schoolchildren are willing to learn with the use of interactive and intelligent mobile application since the schoolchildren are given access the mobile phone during their leisure time at home. They opt for features that increase their involvement, learning experience and span of attention in using the application. The initial designs of the mobile application are presented in this paper in order to provide the brief preview before proceeding further with development of the full application. The mobile application is known as “Green UP Manager”, act as an awareness platform to promote the schoolchildren towards positive behavior in assisting the Nation towards greening and protecting the environment towards sustainable future.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128009981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many technologies and methods have been investigated for this issue since GPS could not prove accurate positioning indoor. Although WLAN-fingerprinting is considered as one of the most accurate IPS method, its accuracy vulnerable to WLAN RSS fluctuation. This fluctuation occurs due to the physical obstacles presence. Many research papers highlighted people's presence near to mobile device (MD) between it and Access point (AP) as RSS attenuate factor, but it is hard to find a research paper investigated this attenuation factor as in the case of walls and ceilings. People presence effect was estimated in previous work as -5dBm on closed distance from MD but it still need a lot of investigation. This paper raises the existence of people presence influence distance as a new concept related to people presence effect. In addition to this, it provides experimental work in order to prove the truth of this claim. The obtained results proved the truth of this claim and the existence of the influence distance became a fact.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131358531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Skin lesions appear for many reasons such as the symptoms indicative of diseases, birthmarks, allergic reactions, and so on. Images of skin lesions are analyzed by computer to capture certain features to be characteristic of skin diseases. These activities can be defined as automated skin lesion diagnosis (ASLD). ASLD involves five steps including image acquisition, pre-processing to remove occluding artifacts (such as hair), segmentation to extract regions of interest, feature selection and classification. This paper present analysis of automated segmentation called the ABCD rules (Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variegation, Diameter) in image segmentation. The experiment was carried on Malignant tumor and Benign skin lesion images. The study shows that the ABCD rules has successfully classify the images with high value of total dermatoscopy score (TDS). Although some of the analysis shows false alarm result, it may give the significant input to search suitable segmentation measure.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134446175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First the region of interest (ROI) of the mammogram image is subjected to shearlet transform and various texture features are extracted from different levels and orientations. The dimensionality of extracted features are reduced by kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) method and ranked based on T-value. Ten ranked features are fed to k-nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier using minimum features. Our results show that shearlet transform coupled with KPCA is superior to shearlet transform.We have reported an accuracy of 89.8 %, sensitivity of 92.7 % and specificity of 93.8 % using KNN classifier for shearlet-KPCA method.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130896282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike their pseudorandom counterparts, TRNGs are more computationally expensive as they need to harvest entropy from physical phenomena. To generate high quality true random numbers at a fast rate, this paper introduces a new TRNG based on hyperchaos and digital sound. The characteristics of a hyperchaotic map such as sensitivity to initial conditions and complex behavior amplifies noise obtained by sampling environmental sound through a computer microphone. The random numbers generated are then evaluated using statistical test suites such as NIST SP 800-22, DIEHARD and ENT. Because nondeterminism cannot be proved by merely running test suites, entropy analysis is performed to determine the unpredictability of these sequences. Results show that the proposed TRNG can generate true random numbers at a high rate while maintaining strong statistical quality. In addition, the entropy source requires only an inexpensive computer microphone which is already built into many laptops and handheld devices. Therefore, the proposed generator provides a low-cost and easily obtainable option for applications that require true random numbers.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131139991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A lot of researches have been done to investigate the performance of TSS in different environment e.g. using MDDR database on Graphic Processing Unit GPU. However, TSS has not been tested with larger database such as ChEMBL database on similar platform. This has become the main motivation for this study to investigating the effect of different representation of chemical structures, binary and fragment occurrence descriptors towards the speed and adaptability in the architecture of GPU using TSS algorithm inside MDDR and ChEMBL database. At the end, this study gained that both parallel version of TSS using binary and fragment occurrence descriptors are scalable on the ChEMBL database. However, fragment occurrence descriptors performed better compared to binary descriptors. Therefore, this study could conclude that the complexity of the descriptors gives a bigger impact on the TSS's execution performance.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130925850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As trends of using portable devices are growing rapidly, the possibility to exploit them for the purpose of learning is immense. Malaysia is inhibited with 61.3% of Muslims. Therefore, informal learning in Islamic context for children is a vital part in any Muslim child development. However, the platform for children to obtain informal learning in Islamic Context is rarely seen. As such, this project will develop a mobile application for android that enables children at the age of four to six as well as their parents to learn about Islamic Hadiths in an interactive and engaging manner. Exploratory study is conducted to evaluate the process of learning Islamic contents for children, which will be the basic user requirements for the mobile application. Survey results shown the majority of Muslim parents provide their children with Islamic education at home through children's books, although the parents are in possession of a mobile device or tablet and have downloaded Islamic applications. Therefore, this project will develop an interactive mobile application called “Hidup cara Rasulullah” to provide children a better understanding in the concept of Hadiths in daily lives.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"183 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133320720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this paper is to propose fundamental modelling of topology control algorithm to conserve individual WSN node's energy, and at the same time preserving the graph connectivity. The proposed topology control algorithm consists of three phases: 1. Identifying connecting nodes at maximum transmission, 2. Pairing nodes with shortest algorithm/minimum-energy level, 3. Calculating/setting minimum power transmission per-node for energy conservation. The algorithm works-out locally and dispenses full graph connectivity, and theoretically would be able to reduce WSN control overhead.","PeriodicalId":224429,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences (ICCOINS)","volume":"36 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116853878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
