A VLibras-Box encapsulates a Portuguese to Brazilian Sign Language translation service and additional components needed to combine multiple VLibras-Boxes in order to assembly a fault-tolerant and scalable translation infrastructure. We present three different application scenarios, hanging from a single VLibras-Box, where the translation endpoint is defined in an static way to multiple translation servers scenarios with dynamic selection and a two-way load balancing strategy to compose public, private and hybrid fault-tolerant distributed translation infrastructures.","PeriodicalId":224319,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134454908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper analyses the use of modern general purpose graphical processing units (GPGPU), such as the NVIDIA CUDA® as an effective acceleration engine to improve motion estimation algorithms overall performance. The results of our analysis include practical evaluations performed on different ME methods using CUDA platform. The evaluations show the impacts of the method, window search size, and ME thread mapping onto the GPGPU in the speed up that can be achieved in such parallel platform.","PeriodicalId":224319,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web","volume":"308 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131698199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A good example of this is the development of video games with natural interaction that can aid in physical and occupational therapy treatments. This article introduces a new alternative in this area with an infrastructure that contains: (i) an environment that facilitates the development of games; (ii) an inexpensive video game console, and (iii) an innovative wearable control. Preliminary usability experiments were done with users and professionals from the medical field. Promising results were obtained for both parties.","PeriodicalId":224319,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web","volume":"1578 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123376087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the banner of \"Earth Computing\", the walkingtools.net laboratory (UNIFESP/UCSD) is exploring how today similar data may return to that landscape in an even more literal way: through distributed computing and the property of \"data locality\" inherent in contemporary compute platforms such as Hadoop. Indeed, not only through data locality, but through solar power and the literal placement of compute power in the landscape itself, all as a way to explore new options for land art and performance art. Brett Stalbaum is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego where he coordinates computing related courses of study (majors) and teaches computer programming and the histories of computing in media art. Stalbaum is a founding member of the Electronic Disturbance Theater (1997), which is known for its activist projects such as FloodNet and the Transborder Immigrant Tool. In 2013 he released the Gun Geo Marker Android app, a pro gun rights gesture that nevertheless confused and outraged radical right-wing gun locos in the United States. (Which is not hard to do.) Currently he is working on the concept of \"Earth Computing\" in the bi-national UNIFESP/UCSD Walkingtools.net laboratory (with co-PI Cicero Silva.).","PeriodicalId":224319,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122685682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm enables the development of powerful applications and services. In this context, security of data users and devices, and system reliability are important aspects. OpenId Connect is the identity layer designed to provide access authentication and identification to services by applications. Designed to be an extensible protocol and based on a Web REST architecture, it is able to serve different types of applications. This paper proposes the use of OpenId Connect protocol into the WoT context, in order to provide multiple mechanisms for user authentication. The proposed model is implemented into an infrastructure that provides access to physical devices on the Web through an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). In this ESB, the MultiAuth-WoT service should perform the authentication by intermediating the communication between the application and the OpenId Connect provider. As a case study, we used a Smart Room application, which controls devices like security cameras, air-conditioning, lightning and sensors. Finally, we analyze the extension of the OpenId Connect protocol into the WoT context as technology capable to fulfill the multimodality authentication requirement.","PeriodicalId":224319,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116171574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The term Complex Data is associated with the universe of unstructured, semi-structured, and multimodal data, and therefore covers a wide variety of data as text, sound, image, video, geographic information, among others.
