Several software quality models and maintainability measurement models/methods have been proposed in the literatures, still the evaluation of Object-Oriented Software (OOS) maintainability has not attained uniformity and consistency in measurement results. This paper reviews existing studies in OOS maintainability measurement within the past decade. Results show that elements of subjectivity in the measurement methods threaten the attainment of uniformity, consistency and potential wide acceptability of the identified models in this review.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114429035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to gain these three purposes for image enhancement, we first expand filters that have strong abiliity of keeping the details of edges and do not perform well in Guassian noise smoothing. Then we change the filters in a way that they would be able to perform these three enhancement operations on images. These filters are based on the idea that single pixels should not be excited (fired) uniformly by each of fuzzy rules. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of this filtering method, we tested it on different problems of image enhancement. Experimental results show the speed, quality and the accuracy of new filtered images.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133783922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HDFS provides distinct features like, high fault tolerance, scalability, etc. The Name Node machine is a single point of failure (SPOF) for a HDFS cluster. If the Name Node machine fails, the system needs to be re-started manually, making the system less available. Symmetric key algorithms (DES and AES) are used in the crypto system to perform data encryption. Public key algorithm (RSA) is used in the crypto system to provide key encryption before key exchange. Combining both the symmetric-key and public-key algorithms provides greater security and some unique features which are only possible in this hybrid system. The crypto system design is modeled using Verilog HDL. The implementation has various modules for DES, AES and RSA. The implementation also has a pseudorandom number generation unit for random generation of keys and a GCD computation unit for RSA. All the hardware modules are designed by Register Transfer Level (RTL) modeling of Verilog HDL using Model Sim SE 5.7e. showing interesting promising results.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133078143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This will increase the factoring complexity of the variable (n), where the process of its analysis with the development of equipment and tools becomes much easier nowadays.The existence of three prime numbers will give the ability to the enhanced encryption method to increase the difficulty of factoring of the variable (n), as well as speed increasing in the process of encryption and decryption. To generate a variable (n) using the original RSA algorithm, which contributes generating the public and private key that have a number of 300 digits by using two primes number with 150 digits each. In this case the multiplication process will take longer than the time of generating the same variable (n) by using three prime numbers where each number with 100 digits.We have conducted experiments on a set of numbers randomly, as they proved that the Enhanced Method for RSA Cryptosystem Algorithm is faster than the original algorithm in encryption and decryption process and generating public and private key. Also it shows that the analysis of the variable (n) will take a long time in the Enhanced Method for RSA Cryptosystem Algorithm and this indicates the increasing complexity in the analysis method.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133333823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, finding an optimal, effective, and robust feature set is usually a difficult task. In this paper, with the use of a comprehensive study on offline handwritten Farsi/Arabic digit recognition systems, a set of well-known features were extracted. Then, by employing one- and two-dimensional spectrum diagrams for standard deviation and minimum to maximum distributions, an optimal subset of initial features set was selected automatically. Experimental results, according to one of the biggest standard handwritten Farsi digit datasets, the HODA, had shown 95.70% accuracy with the proposed method. The achieved results showed a salient improvement in system precision in comparison to using other state-of-the-art approaches.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122222672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This realistic analysis can be best described by segmenting the image into its constituent parts. Unfortunately, segmentation carried out by human visual system (HVS) is always influenced by certain factors. For example, inter-observer, intra-observer variability and large medical datasets. These factors make routine clinical applicability of HVS, a non practical way of examining MRIs. Therefore, to address this problem a fully automatic method is need of the hour. This paper discusses a highly efficient method i.e. the Expectation Maximization (EM) that precisely separates various parts of brain from a brain MRI. It works on the phenomenon of pixel labeling. The results obtained through this method are quite encouraging and are likely to contribute significantly in analyzing brain MRIs.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123486954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spammers used image spam as a technique to by-pass conventional email filters. Anti-Spammers used image classification as a method to detect images spam by extracting different features of the image. One of the important features used is color features. Several works used different color analysis to differentiate image spam, most of these works used supervised methods trying to differentiate computer generated images which is mostly like to be a spam and natural images. Supervised methods have its weaknesses, such as high cost in computation, requires training data, and rapid changes in spammers behaviors. This paper develops an unsupervised method using HSL geometric model (Hue, Saturation, and Luminance) to distinguish computer generated (CG) and natural images. Rules and Heuristics are defined by using HSL variables. The proposed method mainly depends on Saturation and Lightness values and their histograms. Experiment results shows that the combination of these variables can give high classification accuracy results.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125091408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, if the Web has provided fertile grounds for researches and collaborations, the education sector has not yet experienced threshold developments and dependencies on technology with matters relating to online teaching and learning. This paper is based on a doctoral research and the aim of this research is to study the tutor-students' interactions in order to unfold their way of interactions and their learning needs. The methodology used was based on the content analysis of the logged tutor-students textual interactions. Qualitative analysis based on the activity theory of Engeström at macro level, and the Panchoo/Jaillet grid at micro level, were used to analyze a thousand lines of interactions pertaining to a particular module at Master's level in the UNIV-Rct online campus. Surprisingly it has been found that the students interact less on cognitive issues and more on matters pertaining to rules and procedures. Considering the students' learning needs and the tutor's manner of supporting them at real time in their studies, it is desirable to exploit further the technological and the social network capabilities to help enhance the educational processes. For quality learning to take place, not only students should be given adequate pedagogical supports, but tutors should also be assisted to enable them give relevant feedback and guidance in time.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123407034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
