Supported by a VAX11-730 and a MODEL75 system. LTGIS employs a knowledge-based man-machine interactive scheme and a multimodel information integrating technique, and has high speed and precision in the detection of linear structure of the ground. The road information such as the position of the region which has some road segments to be detected, and the start-point and end-point of a detected road segment, is located by a tracking ball, while other information such as the curvature and brightness of the road segment, is inputed by keyboard. These knowledge, together with the algorithm of the slope of road starting point, and the algorithm of optimum road tracking, forms a interactive knowledge-based linear geography target interpretation system.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":223769,"journal":{"name":"[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131412962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that utilising the TDD technique is advantageous for various reasons such as the simplification of the DS-SS transmitter and receivers, more efficient frequency bandwidth utilisation and the realisation of a simple but efficient power control technique. Computer simulation results show the superiority of the power control method. If several codewords are mapped each to a modulated signal point and distinguishable in decoding, then transmission rate can decrease even for the same code rate. Such mapping and decoding schemes are described for multidimensional trellis coded modulation (TCM). It is proposed to use a block error-correcting code in order to protect supplemental information to distinguish codewords mapped to the same signal point. This modified system is considered as a combined TCM and block coded modulation scheme. BER performance is improved over the originally proposed scheme.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":223769,"journal":{"name":"[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124528257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is proposed to apply distortionless sequence compression to the circuit output of SA-NC, which preserves the property of all error detection and yet results in come memory element reduction. Huffman coding and modified Ziv-Lempel coding are promising candidates of distortionless compression when the probabilities of occurrence of input sequences are known and unknown respectively. Simulations are made on two examples of circuits under test, a 9-input and 4-output priority encoder, and a 14-input and 8-output arithmetic logic unit. It is shown that in some instances, Huffman and modified Ziv-Lempel coding result in some 50% reduction of the circuit output length.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":223769,"journal":{"name":"[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117179045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, from a computational point of view the conventional Monte Carlo (MC) approach proves to be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for simulating such systems. As a result, it is highly desirable to devise MC methods which retain the ability to simulate complex systems, yet require substantially fewer simulation runs to estimate small probabilities. A new quick MC technique for estimating the bit error rate (BER) of sequential decoders is presented. It is shown that the new technique is extremely efficient from a computational point of view and can be used to accurately estimate the BER for specific time invariant convolutional codes.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":223769,"journal":{"name":"[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125967856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The source receives packets for transmission into a high speed network according to a renewal process. Credit generated at a fixed rate is allowed to accumulate subject to an upper bound. Packet transmission is allowed to start only if the accumulated credit is at least as large as service time. The credit bank is depleted at the onset of service by an amount which equals the service time. The distributions of the sojourn time and queue length have been found by assuming a special structure for the service time distribution and credit bank. This paper extends the approach to obtain the interdeparture time distribution. It shows by numerical examples that the algorithms can solve practical problems.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":223769,"journal":{"name":"[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129415743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
