Different from onshore wind farms, OWFs are decoupled from the system frequency due to VSC-HVDC connection, so the traditional onshore wind farm frequency control strategy cannot be directly applied, which brings new challenges to the frequency support in onshore system when The frequency fluctuation. The VSC-HVDC connected OWFs has the rotational kinetic energy in the wind turbines’ rotor and the DC capacitor electrostatic energy of the VSC-HVDC system which could be utilized for frequency control. Based on the characteristics of the two power sources, a coordinated frequency control strategy which can suppress secondary frequency drop and assist the rotor speed recovery of the wind turbine was proposed. By means of this strategy, the onshore power system frequency nadir and rate of change of frequency are reduced. And the second frequency drop caused by the rotor speed recovery of wind turbines could be limited. A low-inertia power system model in Matlab/Simulink is used to testify the effectiveness of the strategy.","PeriodicalId":223198,"journal":{"name":"2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131949320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the intermittent renewable energy will pose the challenge to the operation of power system. Utilizing energy storage equipment is an effective solution to enhance power system’s operation performance. This paper proposes the constant and variable power charging and discharging control strategies of battery energy storage system for peak load shifting of power system, and details the principles and control steps of the two different control strategies. The capacity of energy storage device is determined by the constraints of peak load shifting. To further investigate two control strategies, the evaluation indexes, including peak clipping rate, peak-valley rate, and standard deviation of load change are designed for assessing effects of different charging/discharging control strategies on the operation of power systems. According to the simulation results of MATLAB, the variable power charging/discharging control strategy of battery energy storage system proves to be a better solution to peak load shifting of power system.","PeriodicalId":223198,"journal":{"name":"2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131317576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Filter capacitors and reactors reveal to be the main noise sources in HVDC converter stations. In order to control and restrict the noise emission, it is necessary to study the noise characteristics of filter capacitor and reactor and figure out the maximum noise contribution. In this paper, the noise generating mechanism of AC filter capacitor and reactor are theoretical introduced firstly. Then the sound signal processing array technique based on beam forming algorithm is investigated and applied to build the noise positioning and measurement system. By applying the novel system to measure and positioning the noise emission in different types of filter equipment fields, the general noise distribution and the spectral characteristic of filter capacitor and reactor are obtained. The measurement results illustrated that the sound signal processing array technique based on beam forming algorithm is very useful for noise positioning and extraction in filter equipment field. The maximum noise source could be found and the accuracy of noise abatement project could be largely improved.","PeriodicalId":223198,"journal":{"name":"2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131351078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the degassing of the dielectric material in a closed environment is a key factor affecting the flashover performance. The continuous degassing of the solid material will accumulate in a closed environment, causing a low-pressure discharge phenomenon under an applied electric field. In this paper, DC surface flashover experiments of composite sample containing micro and nano-semiconductor additives are studied in different pressures to reveal the surface flashover mechanism. When the electrode spacing is 1mm and the air pressure is in the range of 10−4~10−1 Pa, the flashover voltage remains basically constant. The DC flashover voltage is rapidly reduced from 10−1 Pa and reaches a minimum around 15Pa. The flashover voltage of the micro-composite sample is approximately similar to the pure sample. The DC discharged voltage of the nano-modified sample slightly increased compared with the pure sample, and the amplitude of the flashover voltage did not change significantly in the range of 5 to 500 Pa. The experiments suggest that the reasons for the results may be as follows: Firstly, the outgassing of the solid surface has less effect on the degree of vacuum at low pressure. Secondly, when the air pressure is used as an independent variable, the influence of other factors is negligible.","PeriodicalId":223198,"journal":{"name":"2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129205374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has tremendous potential in handling the complexity and nonlinearity in the power systems. But traditional DRL methods are difficult or even impossible to apply to tasks with large discrete action space, while the shunt compensation control exactly has extremely large discrete action space. To adopt DRL to the optimal control of shunt compensations, this paper proposed a new voltage control method based on the Wolpertinger Architecture of DRL. The proposed method embeds discrete action in a continuous space, use DDPG to produce a continuous action, and then use proximity algorithm to search the final action, which reduces the time complexity of action lookup. The proposed method was tested on IEEE 118 bus system with 620 discrete actions, and shows good performance enhancing the voltage stability.","PeriodicalId":223198,"journal":{"name":"2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126822798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the distributed installation of multiple DC electric springs (DCESs) make coordinated control difficult. In this paper, a simple distributed coordinated control framework is proposed for multiple DCESs. The primary control is based on model predictive control (MPC) to coordinate multiple DCESs. The switch combination of DCES with the operation mode is corresponded in the MPC controller. The secondary control adopts consensus algorithm to regulate the voltage reference value of DC bus. With the design, the distributed coordinated control can achieve the coordinated operation of multiple DCESs and DC bus voltage management by using local information and neighbors’ information. When island power grids are in the process of active and passive network switching,there are unstable problems such as active power imbalance and AC voltage oscillation. Therefore, an active / passive switching control strategy for MMC-HVDC connected to island power grid is proposed. This control strategy is optimized for outer loop power control and phase angle control, which eliminates the instantaneous active power imbalance of the island power grid at the moment of active / passive network switching, and can achieve a smooth switching of the island power grid. Finally, a three-phase MMC simulation model was built in PSCAD / EMTDC.
