As a result, it causes vision loss or blindness. However, with immediate diagnosis and treatment, eyes can be protected against severe vision loss. Most vision loss cases due to Glaucoma are preventable if the disease is treated in the early stages. Most Glaucoma cases happen without signs and symptoms because peripheral vision can be damaged before an individual's central vision is affected. The existing procedures to detect Glaucoma are time consuming and inconclusive at the clinic. Thus, the detection can benefit from an automated computer vision-based technique of eye images. Nevertheless, the major problem of intraocular pressure (IOP) that leads to Glaucoma goes under detected. This paper proposes an automatic risk detection process of Glaucoma by extracting a portion of the eye sclera and measuring the red area percentage. The database used in this research was acquired from Princess Basma Hospital containing one hundred facial images divided into fifty healthy cases and fifty non-healthy cases that have high pressure in the eye.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134245745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main requirement of a wireless sensor network is to prolong network energy efficiency and lifetime. Researchers have developed protocols Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) and Power-Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (PEGASIS) for reducing energy consumption in the network. However, the existing routing protocols experience many shortcomings with respect to energy and power consumption. LEACH features the dynamicity but has limitations due to its cluster-based architecture, while PEGASIS overcomes the limitations of LEACH but lacks dynamicity. In this paper, we introduce PEGASIS-LEACH (P-LEACH), a near optimal cluster-based chain protocol that is an improvement over PEGASIS and LEACH both. This protocol uses an energy-efficient routing algorithm to transfer the data in WSN. To validate the energy effectiveness of P-LEACH, we simulate the performance using Network Simulator (NS2) and MATLAB.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125169670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are some limitations such as reliability, energy efficiency, and scalability, which affect sensor nodes. These limitations mostly affect the security of wireless networks. Also, limited capacity of sensor nodes accounts for the security attacks on WSNs. Applications such as military surveillance, traffic surveillance, healthcare, and environmental monitoring are impacted by security attacks. Hence, researchers have created various types of detection approaches against such attacks. Selective forwarding attack is an example of an attack that is not easily detected particularly in the networks layer. In this type of attack, malicious nodes function in the same way as other nodes in the networks. However, it tries to drops the sensitive information prior to transferring the packet to other sensor node. In this paper, we proposed a new approach for detecting and monitoring selective forwarding attacks in wireless sensor networks. The new approach guaranteed to keep the data transferring between nodes safely.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129914571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The image processing, neural network and computer vision are the most area active research areas. Many of papers and approaches have been introduced in the past decades. It is difficult to create and design an efficient computational system for accurate human face recognition because of the complex visual of the human face, which changes dramatically based on the variant effects. In this paper, we propose a new framework for 2D face recognition using five different distance algorithms and Backpropagation Neural network (BPN) to improve conventional Principal Component Analysis (PCA) approach. The performance of the new framework is compared with the performance of the K Nearest-Neighbor (KNN) classifier using five different distance algorithms then we combine them using the least square root algorithm to achieve a higher accuracy. Our experimental results on AT&T (formerly ORL) and Yale face databases show that our proposed method improves the overall performance of face recognition system with respect to existing approaches. The results show the high accuracy can be achieved by using %15 of the image features which increases the recognition performance rate with less computational cost than the existing methods.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126715995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cloud provides companies the opportunity to store their large amount of sensitive and confidential data on three different platforms-SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. Among these three models of Cloud, SaaS has more security threats. So how is SaaS architecture improved to withstand security threats? In this paper, we present the vulnerabilities of SaaS architecture for security attacks and address the authentication attack among them. In our study, we analyze that every attack is possible only when the attacker overcomes the obligations of authentication and once he gains the access then everything is in his hands. So, in this paper we discuss about authentication attack with detailed information. Also, we find weakness of SaaS architecture. To overcome this weakness, we proposed novel process for signature verification architecture to improve the SaaS signature verification process by closing the vulnerability for authentication attacks. We design a new algorithm to prove our proposed plan and implemented using C language. With this, we are overcoming the authentication attack by closing the wrapping attack, which improves the efficiency of the SaaS model.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125839866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the availability of a large training set, it is common to find that the set contains useless samples (instances), either redundant or noisy. The process of removing these instances is called instance selection in the machine learning field. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of reducing the number of instances in the training set on deep (ConvNets) using a variety of instance selection methods to speed up the training time. We then study how these methods impact on classification accuracy. Moreover, many instance selection methods require a long running time for obtaining a representative subset of the dataset, especially if the dataset is large with high dimensionality. One of the popular algorithms in instance selection is Random Mutation Hill Climbing (RMHC). We propose a new approach in order to make RMHC work much faster with the same accuracy compared to original RMHC.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133193186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

People today have smartphones that have the computational capabilities of computers from more than 45 years ago. With the growing populous under this information age, individuals have access to so much data. It is a fantastic time to spread ideas as anyone can reach anybody else over the internet almost instantaneously. It is not too difficult to get into contact with anyone even if they are on the other side of the globe. This is the power of the 21st century and which has generated a team-oriented society. With this team based structure, people are looking more and more into ways to better manage groups of people, divide up tasks, and share a barrage of emails between one another. A mobile app development team, entitled NEED2FEED, was created to tackle the issue of disorganization that crops up in team-based work structures. The development team particularly focused on aiding local food pantries to create a system that allows for the easy management and communication between volunteers and event coordinators. As well as, to allow volunteers the ability to share photos and event posts with friends and family over social media. The idea behind the mobile app designed by the team was to tackle the issues that food pantries and many other volunteer organizations face with respect to a growing dependency on volunteers. What is needed is a system put in place that would allow an organization to prepare and keep track of volunteers during any occasion so that any organization will be able to effectively plan ahead for any event situation. To successfully accomplish a food pantry app, it was necessary to speak with event organizers from around the county. The mobile app team found that the necessity for a system that can meet all of the organization's needs, while performing them efficiently, was a real necessity.","PeriodicalId":223140,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference (LISAT)","volume":"220 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115514427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
