Similarly, the narratives on the Nawuri-Gonja conflict, particularly its resolution and search for peace, have failed to situate peace-building encounters and initiatives within gender perspectives. This study examines the roles of Nawuri women in peace-building in Kpandai and its environs after the Nawuri-Gonja conflict of the 1990s. It examines the sociocultural tools and nomenclatures – the magico-religious rituals, songs, demonstrations and outreach programmes – that Nawuri women utilized to promote peace and advance peace-building initiatives in Kpandai and its environs after the Nawuri-Gonja conflict. By blending together data from monographs, field research and archival materials, this study constructs a coherent narrative on the contributions of Nawuri women to peace-building in Kpandai and its environments over the past three decades. It argues that Nawuri women appropriated issues and events in their sociocultural settings to advance the course of peace and peace-building in their environment after the Nawuri-Gonja conflict of the 1990s.\u0000Keywords: Conflict, Peace-building, alijii, ejii, chankpana, Nawuri, Gonja, sociocultural, Baya, women.

The paper adopted the desk review approach by relying on existing data on underemployment from the official records of the accredited government agency (National Bureau of Statistics) saddled with the responsibility of keeping such data. Other supportive data were generated from the International Labour Organization (ILO). The secondary data (which are purely descriptive) from the official records of this agency and international institution were presented, analyzed and used as the basis for explanation of the phenomenon of underemployment and its linkage to workers’ deskilling. The result showed that out of the 72.90% workers who were employed in the 2nd quarter of 2020, 28.57% were underemployed. Another 22.8% represent the underemployed workers out of 66.72% of people engaged in working activities in the 4th quarter of 2020. The paper concludes that a significant percentage of workers in the Nigerian labour market are in jobs that under-utilize their training, skill and technical know-how, and that underemployment as observed in the Nigerian labour market is linked to workers’ deskilling. However, the paper recommends that the labour market operators should embark on retraining and reskilling the affected workers. This could serve as a panacea to deskilling, especially in the short-run. \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Underemployment, Workers’ deskilling, Labour market, Skill underutilization, Nigeria

Ghana, just like other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, has implemented policies to help address gender disparity in education. This study sought to assess factors that limit female enrolment and performance despite policies and programmes put in place to solve gender disparity in education. Using a quantitative research approach, questionnaires were administered to 1,070 students and 170 teachers. Secondary data on enrolment and performance were also acquired from the Kassena-Nankana East Municipal office of the Ghana Education Service. The study revealed that though enrolment in senior high schools increased for both boys and girls from 2010/2011 to 2019/2020 academic years, girls still lagged behind boys in enrolment and performed inversely in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. Poor parental control, peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, poverty, early marriage and betrothal, and gender roles, still have significant effects on female enrolment. Access to money for upkeep affects the concentration of girls in school while policies and programmes put in place to help address gender disparity, are riddled with limitations. The way forward is to ensure that policies meet their goals as well as encouraging girls to take education serious through initiatives such as rewarding brilliant students and enhancing mentorship in schools. \u0000Keywords: Girl child, Enrolment, Performance, Senior high school, Challenges.

The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and the Granger Causality test were adopted to examine the objectives. The results showed that government investment expenditure related positively to economic growth in the long run, but has no statistically significant effect on growth in the short run. Other variables such as foreign direct investment, labour force, gross capital formation, debt service, interest rate, inflation rate, and foreign aid influenced growth positively or negatively. A unidirectional causal relationship ran from Government investment expenditure to growth. The study, therefore, recommends that to attain sustainable future economic growth, the government should pay more attention to its investment expenditure; by providing the necessary resources and the enabling environment for education, health and technology.\u0000Keywords: Government Investment Expenditure, Growth, ARDL, Granger Causality, Human capital

The survey approach was used for the study. Using a simple random sampling technique, 182 (112 students and 70 teachers) from the two schools were selected to participate in the study. A comparative study was conducted on the schools’ ICT facilities, how they were being used, the challenges that are encountered and the perception of teachers and students on integration of ICT into teaching and learning in both schools. The findings revealed that both teachers and students have a positive perception about the integration of ICT into teaching and learning. Unstable power supply, system breakdown, unstable internet access and unavailability of ICT integration support staff were identified as the main challenges encountered in using ICT. The study recommended the following: ICT facilities should be provided in all classrooms; the teacher and student laptop project should be expanded to cover every teacher and student, especially in public second cycle institutions and the expansion of internet access points in the various schools.\u0000Keywords: TPACK Model, ICT, Teaching with ICT, Learning with ICT, Second cycle Institution

The main objective of this study was to assess false yam tuber biochar performance or effect on the vegetative growth of pepper. Pepper seeds were obtained at Wumpini agrochemical shop in Tamale which were sown, and growth parameters were assessed (germination percentage, plant height, number of leaves and leaf area index). The soil was amended with biochar produced from false yam tuber. The experiment consisted of seven treatments (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T0) replicated three times including the control (soil only). The soil and biochar mixture were done in two different levels (6 g/pot and 12 g/pot) each at three different times (four weeks before planting (4WBP), two weeks before planting (2WBP) and at planting (DOP)) with control as soil only. Results obtained indicated that there were no significant differences in germination percentage among the treatments both at one week and two weeks after planting. The highest growth performance (plant height, number of leaves and leaf area index) was recorded in the control. The least growth performance was recorded in treatment T1 (6 g of biochar applied at 4 weeks before planting (4WBP)). The application rate of false yam tuber biochar (6 g/pot and 12 g/pot) as soil amendment might not be the right amendment for sweet pepper production.

An insight into the current trends in succession management in public institutions provides a panoramic view of the context, prospects, and success factors in the implementation of succession management in public universities in Ghana. As a country with a high unemployment rate coupled with a high rate of corruption and poverty, succession management has been found to be a challenging issue for university administrators and other stakeholders in the country. Routine procedures are not followed for replacement of workers who in one way or the other left their jobs. Also, the study found that new workers do not have the required skills and experience due to protocols involved in the recruitment and succession processes. The study, therefore, recommends, among others, the adoption of effective training and the flat management structure to enhance the implementation of succession management in public universities in Ghana. \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Career Opportunities, Recruitment, Succession Management, Talent Management, Ghanaian Universities

In 2013, just two years to 2015, which marked the end of the MDG target year, the Kadjebi District was declared a deprived district in terms of education. The paper employed the lenses of social exclusion/inclusion and theory of change. It examined the extent of gender participation in and achievement of other results of education development interventions, now derived from the Sustainable Development Goal (SGD) 4. Basically, the paper used quantitative data from a secondary source after the Kadjebi District was selected from a group of six deprived districts, using a simple random sampling technique. It emerged that Kadjebi is faring well in terms of interventions targeting access to JHS and SHS education by gender but not much progress in the area of indicators measuring quality of education. It is recommended that all stakeholders, particularly, NGOs that were undertaking the interventions, collaborate to diagnose the factors militating against achievement of the quality objective of their interventions and dwell on their respective competitive advantage to create the necessary synergies to be able to tackle these challenges head-on in the District. \u0000 \u0000Key Words/Descriptors: Education Intervention, Gender, World Bank, Sustainable Development Goals, Ghana. \u0000

Climate change is altering rainfall patterns and threatening crop production and food security. Rice factories' process capacity is affected negatively. The Hybrid Optimization for Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER) software used in the study provided the technical and economic modeling to provide power for a rice mill in northern Ghana. A biomass system is considered the optimal system comprising a 1250 kW biogas generator, with a gasification ratio of 0.4, an estimated daily rice husk generation of 50 tonnes/day, and a daily load demand 3689.75kWh/day. The cost of energy (COE) of the proposed system was US$ 0.0703/kWh, with a total net present cost (NPC) of $712,082.00 and initial capital of US$ 437,500.00. The base system which was a 1300kW diesel generator, with NPC of US$ 2.93M, COE of US$ 0.290/kWh, and lower initial investment capital of US$ 186,697.00. The proposed system could generate electricity in a 98,158 kWh/yr surplus, which could power the mill's administrative building with zero unmet loads. Analysis of the system showed that the quantity of rice husk produced at the Avnash mill was sufficient for power generation from a biogas generator at current production. It suggested that the mill could be self-sufficient and contribute significantly to reducing GHG emissions. \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Rice husk, Hybrid system, Sensitivity, Electricity, COE, HOMER \u0000
