The Intelligence Control Group of CAR (CSIC-UPM) has been working on the design of URBANO, a tour guide robot. The URBANO's software architecture is based in agents using SOAP proposal. Some agents offer cognitive services, such as the automatic generation of presentations, learning of concepts using internet and the emotional behavior. One of them is an ontology that contains the knowledge used by the robot. A new agent that implements the learning of odors and produces new stimuli has been developed. This stimuli generate changes in the emotions, therefore, it also produces changes in the behavior of the robot. The obtained results show how to add odors to the emotional model of the robot help it to increase its performance as a social robot.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131385271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conditions which can affect the macula region in particular include AMD and macular oedema, which lead to a direct loss in visual acuity due to the effect on central vision. The detection of the fovea is an important step in the assessment of retinal images for pathologies relating to these visual conditions. In this paper, we propose a method to automatically detect the fovea in retinal fundus images. The method makes use of optic disc detection as a starting point. Using information from an extensive database, typical locations of the fovea are used to define search regions for subsequent analysis. We make use of a combination of the image characteristics of the macular region with noise and vessel removal for fovea detection. The proposed method is tested on a large database of 750 retinal fundus images, achieving an accuracy of 86.53%.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121639096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this way, optical wedge can provide the light sources in different angular position. If rotating two optical wedges with certain angular velocity, the imaging point will be adjusted contiguously. Based on this, we propose an imaging guidance system that can utilize this feature to change the system optical axis and realize the target tracking or searching. In this system, servo motors are applied to drive optical wedges through the feedback loop. According to attitude information from carrier IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), the optical system is located on one rotating frame which is controlled to isolate roll-channel disturbance from carrier. The decoupling in pitch and yaw channels can be done by cooperative rotation of the optical wedges. In this work, the image-forming principle of double wedges is analyzed and related control method is discussed.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116506479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among many proposed schemes, meta-heuristic algorithms are prospective for solving NP problems. Hence, a modified ant colony optimization (ACO) is proposed to solve a type of vehicle routing problem named capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) which involves minimization of the total routing distance by each vehicle plus the total services time on the customer nodes. The studied CVRP is treated as a two phase problem; customer/vehicle assignment and makespan minimization phases. The modified ACO involving a semi-greedy heuristic in state transition rule is used in the clustering phase. Meanwhile, a NEH heuristic is conducted to update the visiting customers' order of each vehicle in the makespan minimization phase. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme is sound for solving the CVRP type problems.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132621399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The circuit provides low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop and all-pass voltage responses at a high impedance input terminal, which enable easy cascadability. The natural frequency (ωo) and the quality factor can be controlled orthogonally by setting the circuit components. The parameter ωo can also be controlled electronically by adjusting the biasing currents of OTAs. No critical component-matching conditions and no inverting-type input signals are required for realizing all the filter responses. Simulation results are performed to confirm the theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133534757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on virtual equivalent system (VES) concept and methodology, a positive answer to the problem is presented under a unified framework which is independent of specific `local' control strategy and specific algorithm for weight calculation. The obtained results indicate that the stability of a weighted MMAC system depends mainly on the convergence of posterior probability weights, i.e., the posterior probability corresponding to the model closest to the true plant converges to 1, and others converge to 0.","PeriodicalId":220747,"journal":{"name":"2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134012626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
