This project aims to take the previous study, made in 2008 in Kristianstad, a step further and highlight and enhance the technological aspects of different subsystems in order to achieve a system even more useful. Within the project evaluation of a holistic concept will be done, one of them in the Swedish municipality Örnsköldsvik. In total five buses will be equipped with technical safety solutions. Communication between the system and children will be solved by children wearing a tag that transmit information to the bus unit, making it possible for the system and the driver to know if the child is on their way to the bus. The tag will also be connected to a bus stop unit, warning passing drivers. This system will handle, safe route planning, rerouting of routes, school bus position tracking and monitoring, safety enhancement applications for bus drivers, warning systems for surrounding vehicles and training schemes for school bus drivers. The evaluation will focus on usefulness, effectiveness, acceptance in a user perspective. In addition socio-economic analysis will be done.","PeriodicalId":220290,"journal":{"name":"2011 11th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123708295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we evaluate the performance of MIMO applied to a turbo coded cooperation system. The considered system is studied under two scenarios where the sources transmit over either orthogonal channels or non-orthogonal channels. For the latter, interleave-division multiple-access (IDMA) is used for multi-source detection. We evaluate the performance improvement in terms of reliability (frame error rate) and efficiency (throughput efficiency), and determine the channel conditions where adopting MIMO in addition to cooperation is beneficial.","PeriodicalId":220290,"journal":{"name":"2011 11th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125258482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An original technique based on the Transmission Line Matrix method (TLM) for the analysis of guided structures is used to model propagation in arbitrary-shaped tunnels. In this context, Vehicular Delay Tolerant Networks (VDTNs) arise as innovative solution since it presents an appropriate network architecture, supporting communication in intermittent situations. This work presents an embedded VDTN testbed created to evaluate safety systems in a real-world scenario. A traffic jam information service will be executed to demonstrate basics characteristics of VDTN, like out-of-band signaling and IP over VDTN. The main contributions of this paper consider the presentation of an appropriate hardware and software to embedded application for VDTNs, network performance evaluation over different environments, and corresponding results analysis using diverse metrics.","PeriodicalId":220290,"journal":{"name":"2011 11th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"239 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122991010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The platooning of some trucks on the express way is discussed widely as an important part of ITS application. In order to organize the platooning, it is required to converge each other. However, because the sequence of converging from wide area depends on the driver's decision and there is no basis velocity for converging, it is potentially difficult to achieve efficient convergence for platooning. In this paper, we propose a velocity decision algorithm for platoon and it has two main components. The one is decision the sequence of converging and the other is call into account whether a platoon relevant truck can converge each others. We implemented and evaluated our proposition in comparison to simple converging method by computer simulation. As the result, we show that our proposal have efficacy as converging for platooning.","PeriodicalId":220290,"journal":{"name":"2011 11th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126841001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several useful applications will be enabled by car to car communication, such as safety applications that save drivers and passengers' lives, traffic efficiency applications that improve the traffic on the road and finally infotainment applications that provide more comfort in the car and on the road. All these applications rely on efficient and reliable cooperation between vehicles, which could be enabled only by efficient and reliable ITS systems. These systems will need to handle a huge amount of information which is received from vehicles and road equipments. Therefore, a good system to classify and store locally all this wonderful information for further utilization, needs to be considered seriously. ETSI TC ITS architecture adopts a nice solution for this issue and use Local Dynamic Map (LDM), which stores information in different layers on top of a digital map. The LDM solution has already been tested in several occasions and it has proven its efficiency. Even that, LDM still has some open issues that need more efforts to be solved and/or enhanced. One of these issues has not been considered yet by ongoing activities in the area is the unnecessary duplication of information in the LDM database. In this work, we come-out with an efficient solution to solve this issue, which enables a unique identifier per each event and therefore eliminates events (information) duplication in the LDM database. As active member in ETSI TC ITS, we will also bring this solution to ETSI to be integrated in the still ongoing ITS standards.","PeriodicalId":220290,"journal":{"name":"2011 11th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
