One strand of literature focuses on the public sentiment expressed through social media and how such sentiment shape business environment. Previous researches have proved that public sentiment on social media does have an impact on movie's opening weekend box office. This study aims to specifically analyze both positive and negative sentiment by following this strand of research in movie industry. The results confirm that positive sentiment shares high covariance with profitability whereas negative sentiment becomes insignificant after controlling for the production budget. In other words, online negative sentiment towards a product does not necessarily affect profitability negatively.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133999148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, CQI reporting in the practical systems is performed based on the single user (SU) MIMO transmission mode to keep low feedback overhead and computational complexity. To operate in MU-MIMO transmission mode, the base station needs to predict the MU-CQI from the reported SU-CQI. The conventional CQI update method is based on the worst-case approach to minimize the outage probability. However, this is not efficient way for the massive MIMO systems, since there is a lot of capacity loss when the number of served users is large. To improve the accuracy of prediction, we propose MU-CQI prediction method based on channel quantization error feedback. Although the proposed scheme requires few feedback overhead like only 1bit, it shows remarkable performance gain compared to the conventional prediction scheme in terms of system goodput.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132118778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For real-time epileptic seizure detection, wireless EEG sensors have been utilized for the purpose of data acquisition, pre-processing and transmission to the server side. The dilemma of excessive power consumption of both data processing and transmission imposes strict constraints on battery-powered sensor nodes. The conventional streaming approach transmits raw EEG data as is, while consumes excessive transmission power. Other modalities consider lossy compression paradigms in order to reduce the transmitted data. This paper proposes on-board data reduction technique, which extracts low-complexity and high level, application-based, features at the sensor side. In particular, EEG spectrum is segmented to five frequency sub-bands; numerous combinations of these sub-bands are selected as feature vectors, and classification using k-nearest neighbor. Simulations have revealed that alpha and delta rhythms yield feature vectors for the EEG signals in the context of epileptic seizure detection. Satisfactory results have been obtained (around 92.47% accuracy). Moreover, the proposed approach outperforms both data streaming and compression techniques in terms of total power consumption and seizure detection performance.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129610115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the permissions-based security model, an application should have the appropriate permissions before gaining various resources (including data and hardware) in the phone. This model can only restrict an application to access system resources without appropriate permissions, but can not prevent malicious accesses to privacy data after the application having obtained permissions. During the installation of an application, the system will prompt what permissions the application is requesting. Users have no choice but to allow all the requested permissions if they want to use the application. Once an application is successfully installed, the system is unable to control its behavior dynamically, and at this time the application can obtain privacy information and send them out without the acknowledgements of users. Therefore, there is a great security risk of the permissions-based security model. This paper researches on different ways to access users' privacy information and proposes a framework named PriGuard for dynamically protecting users' privacy information based on Binder communication interception technology and feature selection algorithm. Applications customarily call system services remotely by using the Binder mechanism, then access the equipment and obtain information through system services. By redirecting the Binder interface function of Native layer, PriGuard intercepts Binder messages, as a result, intercepting the application's Remote Procedure Call (RPC) for system services, then it can dynamically monitor the application's behaviors that access privacy information. In this paper, we collect many different types of benign Application Package File (APK) samples, and get the Application Programming Interface (API) calls of each sample when it is running. Afterwards we transform these API calls of each sample into feature vectors. Feature selection algorithm is used to generate the optimal feature subset. PriGuard automatically completes the privacy policy configuration on the newly installed software according to the optimal feature subset, and then control the calls on system service of the software using Binder message interception technology, which achieves the purpose of protecting users' privacy information.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114515040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is no solution to manage efficiently key/attribute revocation problem in CP-ABE scheme. Key revocation problem is very important in dynamic environment like Internet of Things (IoT), where billions of things are connected together and are cooperating without human intervention. Existing solutions are not efficient due to their overhead (traffic) and complexity (big access trees). Other solutions require the use of powerful semi-trusted proxies to re-encrypt data. The proposed solution in this paper called Batch-Based CP-ABE reduces the complexity and the overhead, and does not require extra nodes in the system. We propose to split time axis into intervals (time slots) and to send only the necessary key parts to allow refreshing the secrets keys. An analysis is conducted on the way to choose the best time slot duration in order to maximize system performances and minimize average waiting time.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125139649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a disclosure raises a serious concern in the public for the leak of users' privacy. For instance, a person who watches a lot of videos which are more preferred by women than men can be inferred as female. Recently, as a response to this concern, some algorithms are proposed to obfuscate users' historical behavior records to protect users' privacy, at the cost of degradation of recommendation accuracy. It is a common belief that such degradation is inevitable. In this paper, however, we break this pessimistic belief based on the fact that a person's interests are not necessarily limited to items which are geared to a certain age, profession, or gender. Based on this idea, we propose a recommendation-friendly privacy preserving method by introducing a privacy-preserving module between a recommendation system and user side. By obfuscating a user's historical records with a set of properly selected extra factitious records, the privacy-preserving module can efficiently obfuscate the user's privacy information but keep her interest information pass through. Extensive experiments show that our algorithm can not only obfuscate users' gender information efficiently, but also maintain or even improve recommendation accuracy.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121578461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the full topology is often not known and is instead estimated using topology inference algorithms. Many of these algorithms use Traceroute to probe paths in the network and then use the collected information to infer the topology. In practice routers may severely disrupt the operation of Traceroute and cause it to only provide partial information. We propose iTop, an algorithm for inferring the network topology when only partial information is available. iTop constructs a virtual topology, which overestimates the number of network components, and then repeatedly merges links in this topology to resolve it towards the structure of the true network. We perform extensive simulations to compare iTop to state of the art inference algorithms. Results show that iTop significantly outperforms previous approaches and its inferred topologies are within 5% of the original networks for all the considered metrics.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126558435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel approach called CBORCA (Cut-Based On-demand Routing with Coordinate Awareness) is introduced. CBORCA improves the efficiency with which route requests are disseminated by partitioning the designated route forwarders in distinct quadrants and by selecting at most one \"pivot\" within each quadrant. Each new pivot is required to pass a distance test before joining the pivot set. Message complexity at each hop is shown to be O(C) ? O(l). Experimental results using simulations demonstrate that the performance of CBORCA achieves better results than ORCA (On-demand Routing with Coordinate Awareness) in packet-delivery ratio, signaling overhead, and end-to-end delay.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125288389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
