Environmental pollution is mostly attributed to harmful gases emitted during engine combustion in ships or automobiles, including thermal power generation. To solve this problem, electricity is produced and stored from new renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and wave power, and is used to propel ships and cars. Electric propulsion ships or electric vehicle systems consist of a battery, an inverter, and an electric motor. The DC power stored in the battery is composed of a sinusoidal AC voltage through an inverter and is applied to the electric motor. The most important aspect is to safely manage a battery, which is a core component of an electric propulsion system, to avoid explosion, overheating or the generation of an overcurrent. Therefore, it is important not only to always observe the ambient temperature, rated voltage, and current but also to remove factors that may harm the safety of the battery in advance. In particular, the sinusoidal AC voltage applied to the motor modulates the command voltage into the form of a switching pulse, which is then applied to the upper and lower legs (Leg) of the inverter. Therefore, the voltage and current of the inverter contain various harmonics that can adversely affect the propulsion system, including the batteries. In this study, the modulation types of the two switching pulses are selected, and motor-speed control is performed according to each type. Simultaneously, the relationship between the harmonics and lifetime is analyzed by measuring the current harmonics flowing through an electrical motor and the internal resistance, which is a parameter that can predict the lifetime of the battery.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"114 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these regulations do not reflect factors such as the country-specific sailing habits of captains, sailing patterns by route, port environments, and speed regulations in different waters. In this study, we analyze the general factors and profiles that affect the sailing modes of ships and driving modes of automobiles, identify the problems that occur when applying the concepts of automobiles to ships, and investigate their solutions. Based on this, a sailing mode generation algorithm was developed, and the sailing modes of the training ship were constructed from the sailing profile of one voyage. The results can serve as basic data for developing representative sailing mode methodologies generated based on the probability that derives various sailing profiles of different types of ships into one representative sailing mode. In addition, the representative sailing modes derived for specific waters and routes can be used to design optimization systems for new ships and measure the standardized fuel efficiency of ships with various sailing profiles.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"36 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139306924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study considers varying hydrogen mole fractions of 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5, and different fuel flow velocities of 2.0, 6.3, and 8.0 cm/s. To introduce DC electric fields, a high voltage terminal was connected to the fuel nozzle, while the ground terminal was connected to an upper mesh located above the flame. The applied DC voltages ranged from V dc = -10 kV to +10 kV. The study reveals that the addition of hydrogen reduces flame height. Furthermore, when subjected to DC electric fields, the flames exhibit movement towards the lower potential side, displaying stable and oscillating behaviors due to the Lorentz force acting on positive ions within the flames. The concentrations of CO and CO 2 exhibit insignificant changes with varying hydrogen mole fractions. However, when exposed to positive voltage, CO, CO 2 , and NO X emissions are reduced. This research provides a detailed analysis of flame/flow behavior and emission characteristics when hydrogen and DC electric fields are introduced, providing valuable insights into the control of flame behavior and pollutant","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Creating wind farms poses several challenges due to limited land availability and insufficient wind resources. Consequently, offshore wind projects are garnering attention, particularly in domestic conditions. Notably, the Southwest Sea of Korea exhibits the highest offshore wind potential and has validated this potential through demonstrations. The primary geological characteristic of the Southwest Sea is a weak clay layer. To ensure the stable operation of generators, enhancing the precision of the substructure becomes imperative. This study presents an engineering procedure for developing a jacket-shaped wind turbine sub-structure, which was analyzed to assess the impact of soil properties on structural strength. In a previous study, wind turbine capacity targeted 5 MW. However, in alignment with the technological trend in the Southwest Sea offshore wind turbine market, this analysis model focuses on the 12 MW class. The structural response under varying soil conditions was verified using data from the North Sea, Mexico Bay, and Southwest Sea. The findings of this study not only contribute to designing structurally sound wind turbine substructures but also serve as essential reference data for engineers in related fields, providing insights into structural safety design and analytical verification processes.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"332 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139309047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is one of the important applications in the field of activity recognition and can be used in various fields, such as exercise tracking, smart homes, self-driving cars, and health status monitoring, by recognizing human daily activity patterns. However, DL models are complex and have significant computational costs and numerous parameters to process and classify high-dimensional radar datasets. Therefore, their implementation on commercial mobile devices is limited by their computational complexity. Therefore, in this study, we propose a lightweight HAR DL model using Self-Attention technology to solve the complexity and computational costs of these DL models. Experimental results demonstrate that this model can maintain its performance while reducing the number of parameters required. In the future, these light-weight models will not only be usable on mobile devices but will also require lower computing power and memory capacity; therefore, they are expected to be used in various fields as time series-based DL models.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122021343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
