However, in practice, most supply chains experience variations that affect the theoretical results. Most products are perishable, which implies that their quality deteriorates over time. This issue must be resolved promptly before the cycle ends because unsold items result in revenue loss. This study presents an EOQ model in a discrete domain with uncertainties in the systematic parameters. The demand for products depends linearly on the pricing scheme of the enterprise, which must be analyzed optimally to achieve the maximum profit in the replenishment cycle. To solve this optimization problem, an optimal control technique named the Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) equation is introduced, which has been proven successful in solving similar issues. The convergence constraints of the HJB equation and the optimal reordering quantity are analyzed. The performance of the proposed approach is revealed via simulations, in which the behavior of the inventory system in perfect and imperfect scenes is demonstrated. The final result indicates that the optimal solution is admissible and robust as it remains valid in varying environments, with a difference of less than 5% in the ideal case.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140410743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, soot and ash, which are harmful substances generated during fuel combustion in diesel engines, enter the interior of a ship, which degrades air quality inside the ship and adversely affects the health of crew members. Because ships are highly confidential compared to general buildings and it is difficult to achieve natural ventilation between the exterior and interior of a ship, various indoor air pollutants can spread rapidly into a ship if adequate ventilation or removal systems are lacking, thereby posing a risk to the respiratory health of passengers and crew members. In this study, a combined ventilation–cleaning filter system was developed to effectively filter out harmful substances and improve the air quality inside the cabin. DB, PM10, and PM2.5, which are harmful particulate substances, and total volatile organic compounds, which are harmful gaseous substances, were measured inside the cabin of a ship to determine its indoor air quality. The measurement results for the fine-particle size concentration showed that PM2.5 and PM10 exhibited a similar increasing and decreasing trend, with pollutant concentrations up to six times higher during departure than at anchoring. The values were higher than the daily limit recommended by the World Health Organization (PM2.5: 25 μg/m 3 ; PM10: 50 μg/m 3 ). Based on the concentrations of volatile organic compounds, the concentration at ship departure showed a similar trend to that of fine particles in the cabin (1659 ppb), which was approximately five times higher than the daily average (333 ppb) recommended by AWAIR. A filter system for ship environments was designed using a simulation tool to address this problem. The filter system consisted of a filter for removing particulate pollutants. By optimizing the system, the pollutants generated from ships and the performance degradation of the existing air-conditioning system were minimized. In addition, we analyzed the current status of gas pollutants inside ships to examine the use of activated carbon attachment filters in removing gaseous pollutants. After filter installation, the fine-particle concentration decreased to a maximum of 25.67 μg/m 3 (PM10), indicating a reduction by 2.6 times, and the average air quality increased to 9.7 μg/m 3 (PM10). A system that can remove particulate pollutants and gaseous pollutants simultaneously should be investigated in future studies.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139309071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In parallel with the development of PMSM, many novel control strategies have been developed to make PMSM superior and robust. In all control strategies aimed at improving the operation of PMSMs, the control strategy using discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) instead of continuous space vector pulse width modulation (CSVPWM) for field-oriented control (FOC) is widely used to reduce switching and save energy. However, this method has not been applied by researchers to sensorless PMSM control three-phase inverters. Therefore, this study investigated a sensorless PMSM control with a DPWM FOC and a traditional sliding-mode observer to estimate rotor positions. Additionally, a modified sliding-mode observer with a Park phase-locked loop (PLL) was designed experimentally to improve the stability of the PMSM speed and reduce harmonics in the output phase current for the inverter under the FOC with DPWM. The experimental results verified that the sliding-mode observer integrated with the Park PLL can improve the operation of the sensorless PMSMs under FOC with DPWM.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139306781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A mathematical model of the central cooling system was established to integrate the two controllers. The state-space equation of the mathematical model was linearized to facilitate controller development. The voltage frequency of the SW pump motor and three-way valve opening degree were selected as the two primary inputs of the system control. In contrast, the heat exchanger (HEX) and three-way valve outlet temperatures were the primary outputs of the control system. To design the LQ controller, the input control vector that minimized the performance index by incorporating specific weighting matrices was determined. The resulting LQ controller with an integrator was developed and tested through control performance simulations. The simulation results revealed that the proposed controller controlled the freshwater outlet temperature with minimal overshoot, efficiently controlled the SW pump rotational speed, and effectively controlled the three-way valve opening against step disturbances. The proposed LQ controller for central cooling systems offers a refined approach for efficiently controlling ship central cooling systems.","PeriodicalId":217894,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Marine Engineering and Technology","volume":"65 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
