This routing scheme represents the modification of the existing OSPF protocol, and can be optimized to achieve the maximum guaranteed node traffic. Also, the proposed scheme allows the simple and straightforward process of bandwidth reservation, important for multimedia applications. In a testing network environment, we compare the performance of LB-SPR with OSPF, and confirrm the better traffic distribution in the case of LB-SPR, which allows to route higher traffic loads. Then we analyze the jitter, as the possible critical aspect of load balancing, and show that the use of load balancing does not crucially affect the quality of transmission.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117346805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such ubiquitous WLANs, a mobile node (MN) freely moves between WLANs with different IP subnets during VoIP communication. However, existing methods cannot sufficiently maintain VoIP quality during handover due to changes of IP address and inappropriate execution of handover. To solve these problems, in our previous paper, we proposed and implemented a seamless handover method employing multi-path transmission and a handover trigger based on frame retries. However, we have not sufficiently shown the effectiveness of our proposed method in a practical environment. Therefore, in this paper, we focus on the two features of our proposed method, i.e., frame retries and multi-path transmission, and present a detailed evaluation of our proposed method in a real environment.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115486827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conventional OFDMA-CDM does not effectively reduce SI, since it does not consider multiuser diversity. The proposed scheme allocates subchannels to the user who has largest minimum Carrier to Interference Ratio (CIR) since the conventional weight combining is done by minimum channel gain. By doing the proposed subchannel allocation, minimum CIR becomes high and each user can use good subchannels. Due to the effective multiuser diversity, demodulated symbols can be weighted by high channel gain. Since the proposed scheme can generate reliable demodulated symbols, the proposed scheme can reduce SI. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the BER performance.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114225100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such signals may include the so-called radio frequency interference (RFI) that emanate from sources that lie well outside the directions of arrival (DOAs) of the signals of interest (SOIs). They may also include the intra-plane inter-antenna signals that result from the undesirable electromagnetic mutual coupling that exists between rectangularly-spaced antennas in aperture arrays (AAs) and in the focal plane arrays (FPAs) of paraboloidal dishes. Such signals have 3D space-time spectra possessing regions of support (ROSs) that are close to the surface of the 3D spectral light cone. They can therefore be attenuated by means of 3D space-time filters having 3D stopbands that include and encompass the surface of this light cone. Such a 3D space-time filter is described here and used to evaluate the validity of the proposed approach. Numerical results confirm that the proposed method significantly attenuates broadband RFI signals and moderately suppresses mutual coupling.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"399 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124241375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diversity techniques are usually utilized to overcome fading channels in OFDM system. Furthermore, a diversity with a single antenna is desirable because the form factor of the terminal is important. Fractional sampling( FS) scheme is one of the diversity technique with a single antenna. Through FS, it is possible to separate multipath components and obtain diversity gain in OFDM communication. In this paper, a novel sampling point selection scheme according to the frequency response of a channel is proposed. Through the experiment the performance of the FS scheme on a IEEE802.11a WLAN system, it is evaluated. Numerical results through the experiment indicate that sampling point selection scheme according to the frequency response of a channel can achieve path diversity.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"85 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126449649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The techniques covered in this paper are MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC), Autoregressive (AR) spectrum estimation and Capon minimum variance spectrum estimation. Our approach uses coarray equivalence to construct a “virtual correlation matrix” with larger size than the correlation matrix that is directly obtainable from the physical array. The larger dimension of the virtual correlation matrix allows for more point sources to be resolved when the spectrum estimation methods are applied. This method will prove to be useful in situations where the number of antenna elements must be limited, but there are many sources.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131827132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A data frame from the BS is split into two portions that are transmitted consecutively from the distributed antennas. For uncoded transmission, the bit error rate (BER) is formulated as a function of the FS ratios, and an analytical optimal FS ratios is derived to achieve the lowest BER over AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels, respectively. For coded transmission, an optimal FS ratio is conjectured based the analytical result of uncoded transmission. Furthermore, this optimal FS ratio is verified by simulation. For both uncoded and coded transmissions, the optimal FS ratio depends only on the ratio of the two characteristic SNRs.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":" 45","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120832939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This synthesis method takes advantage of the shared-ESOP cubes among the outputs to generate a cascade of Toffoli gates. The method is suitable to generate circuits for functions with large number of input variables. A greedy approach is utilized to select pairs among the different outputs with common ESOP-cubes. The shared terms need only to be realized once and the result can then be transferred to the second output, and thus reducing the number of Toffoli gates. The synthesis algorithm has been applied to a set of benchmark functions. Experimental results show that the algorithm can generate circuits with reduced quantum cost for virtually all functions. Template applications can further improve the results.","PeriodicalId":217751,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132649454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
