Up to 32 ADC channels are combined with reconflgurable logic on a small mezzanine form factor card to get a handy module for analog data acquisition. This module can then be mounted either on a dedicated detector frontend or included in an Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) crate system. For on-detector usage the system provides several features for fail safe and also fail tolerant operation and data readout. This opens applications in high energy physics detectors with difficult access schemes to the electronic part. The crate system offers on the other hand a high channel density with moderate channel costs. Additionally, the ATCA standard provides enough data bandwidth for online data processing within the crate system. Due to the unified interface of the ADC mezzanine cards, the system cost can be further reduced by an easy up- or downgrade of the ADC sampling frequency or the channel count by exchanging just the mezzanine card and thus maintaining the whole surrounding infrastructure. On the other hand, a distributed system improves performance and reliability but result in higher complexity. The NetDesign suite was developed to provide a comprehensive set of tools that permits the generation of a navigable network design, automates a number of routine tasks and provides the user with a powerful and flexible reporting system. NetDesign is an add-on extension to the basic functionality of the Microsoft Visio tool. It features: automatic labeling of cables, media/port connection validation, navigation along a cable, hierarchical schematics, cross-page and vertical navigation, overall verification of the network diagram and hyperlinks to other equipment databases. The internal network structure can be exported to a third party database from which a large variety of reports can be obtained. The reports are defined using a special user-friendly meta-language and are written to a Microsoft Excel sheet. The facilities will be operated over many years and even decades. It will be prohibitive to maintain a complete staff of experts at the site. The load of regular visits of the site is tremendously eased when experts can take action remotely. The demand for reliable remote monitoring and control is thus paramount. This paper describes a comprehensive solution which is being provided by the GANMVL-collaboration within EuroTeV. An important feature of the toll is that the implementation details are well hidden from the user to increase the public acceptance. The tools employed are based on web-browsers granting access to VNC, to VRVS and in the future EVO, to facility internal web-pages, to cameras and allow to control instruments. They include Single Sign On authentication so that security requirements can be met. Using standard interfaces the user need not be concerned with the technology of the instruments. The new DAQ system has been successfully commissioned in autumn 2006. Further developments aiming at performance optimizations are in progress. The accelerator power supplies employing 3-phase 60 Hz AC cause noise at various harmonics on our inputs which must be eliminated for monitoring purposes. During accelerator ramping, both the sampling frequency and the amplitudes of the noise components change. As such, traditional digital filtering can partially reduce certain noise components but not all. A non-traditional algorithm was developed in our work to eliminate remaining ripples. The sequencing in the FPGA firmware is conducted by a micro-sequencer core we developed: the enclosed loop micro-sequencer (ELMS). Conventional scattering technology has been used for eye tumors since 1981 with more than 4000 patients successfully treated. In 1996, PSI initiated the spot-scanning program for the treatment of deep seated tumors of various sizes with protons up to 220 MeV in a compact gantry. In 2006 a dedicated 250 MeV cyclotron for medical applications was commissioned and patient treatments restarted in 2007. Meanwhile a new Gantry 2 is being developed. First, a better knowledge of the ILC physics and machine event backgrounds and data bandwidths of the various sub-detectors will give the size of the full data flow of the read out system. Second, the concept of 'Software Trigger' architecture with its consequences on the read-out electronics designs under development is discussed. Third, some preliminary ideas for the event selection, collection and analysis will be presented.
