A key point for the accurate fabrication of fixed prosthetic structures is taking an accurate impression of the prosthetic field. The implant-prosthetic restoration of the masticatory apparatus after the composition of the function and aesthetics of the dentition through digital technology is gaining wider popularity. Aim: The purpose of this article is to address impression materials and compare the two methods of impression taking from implants—conventional and digital—and clarify their advantages and disadvantages. Materials and Methods: After reviewing materials, studies, and publications on the subject, we tried to pres-ent and systematize the main methods and techniques for taking an impression of implants in a conventional and digital way, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. The search was conducted using various keywords and combinations: “transfer impression”, “conventional impression”, “intraoral scanner”, “CAD/ CAM”, “scan body”. Results: Forty-one original and review articles were reviewed. Impression materials, impression-taking techniques in permanent implant prosthodontics by conventional and digital methods, and types of intra-oral scanning systems are discussed. Conclusion: Taking an accurate impression is a key point in implantology. There are differences in the impression taking techniques of implants. Two main impression techniques are used, direct with an open tray and indirect with a closed tray. According to many literature sources, the open-tray impression technique is more precise and produces more accurate results, while others believe that the closed-tray technique is more accurate. More and more often, conventional impressions are being replaced by digital ones. Digital impressions entered dentistry and, in particular, implantology as an alternative to conventional ones for the restoration of small defects such as single crowns and short bridges.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79275792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The influence of these parameters on the effective use of drugs is also essential. The acidity of the medium (pH), the density (ρ), and the viscosity (η) of the medium were determined and the specific electrical conductivity (χ) was changed. The selected physicochemical parameters must provide certain values (varying within narrow limits) for the human body. Significant changes in the nature of these indicators are observed in various misconceptions. Based on the above aspects, it can be concluded that it is of great importance to study these parameters. Samples of nasal secretions were taken from people at different stages of their illness (at diagnosis, in the treatment process and after its completion). Samples from individuals with chronic and acute sinusitis were tested. Based on the obtained data, for the acidity of the medium, density, viscosity, and specific electrical conductivity, it could be concluded that all patients benefitted from nasal saline irrigation. After the therapy, the general parameters under study, reach values close to the physicochemical parameters. The results can be used as proper drug treatment or for improving the current drug studies.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"47 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89068260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Posturology is the science for the human posture. The connections between the vestibular, ocular, stomatognathic, postural, and proprioceptive systems are studied due to their muscular chains interconnections. Aim: The present research aims to study the characteristics of the body’s balance in patients with vestibular disorders and orthodontic malocclusions, utilizing the PODATA platform. Materials and Methods: A total of 83 patients in the time period November–July 2022 were included. All patients filled out written informed consent forms in order to participate. The study received approval by the Medical University of Varna’s Ethics Committee. Patients were also provided with questionnaires in order to assess their symptoms. An ENT specialist and a dentist examined all patients. Patients were divided into several diagnostic groups. Results: When examined on the platform, patients shifted the center of gravity (CoG) of the body more often backwards and to the right side. Most patients with a shift of CoG backwards and to the right had a temporo-mandibular disorder (TMD) on the left side. Female patients were more affected than male ones. In patients who also had a vestibular disorder, CoG of the body was more often shifted backwards and to the right. Thirty-one had a malocclusion. Patients with a change of the middle line and deep bite were the most prevalent and they shifted CoG backward and to the right or only backwards. Conclusion: The presented study confirmed that there is a connection between the postural, stomatognathic and vestibular systems. Disorders in either of the systems results in consecutive changes in the others.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81542946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Partial and complete edentulousness of patients disturbs their occlusal, phonetic function, as well as aesthetics. Aim: The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between the type of prosthetic treatment and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) complaints. Materials and Methods: A total of 152 patients who visited the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Varna and underwent prosthetic treatment were examined. The patients were evenly distributed by sex and age. They have been clinically examined and interviewed. Results: Slightly more than half of the patients underwent prosthetic treatment with partial dentures (53.9%), the rest—with complete dentures. Sex dependence was not established while, in terms of age, it was determined that the mean age was 64.5 years for patients treated with complete dentures and 57.2 years for partial dentures (p < 0.001). There was a significant difference in the type of dentures and complaints relat-ed to TMJ dysfunction (p = 0.030), finding that the likelihood of TMJ dysfunction in patients with complete dentures increased more than twice (OR = 2.124 (1.030–4.381); p < 0.05). Conclusion: The probability of TMJ dysfunction in patients with complete dentures is much higher than in those treated with partial dentures. Regardless of the type of the dentures, females are more prone to TMJ complaints.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"72 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78734463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the first time Topler and Ortel, in the period 1866–1878, applied the strobo-scopic effect to decompose the motion of fast-moving objects. It is known that the image we get in phonation is collective due to the peculiarities of the retina and vocal apparatus. The stroboscopic effect is based on the use of a high-frequency pulse lamp, which allows the illumination of the rapid movements of the vocal cords up to 5 times per second, by interrupting the light source. Thus, the actual phonatory oscillations of the vocal folds are replaced by delayed, observable visual perceptions, possessing properties of the real movements. When the patient is asked to sing a vocal, the energy of the sound is converted into light. The pulse lamp starts to light up and goes out with the frequency of oscillation of the vocal cords. The strobo-scopic indicators that can be evaluated are: frequency of movement of the vocal cords, amplitude of oscillations, course of movement, etc. Laryngostroboscopy is used to assess vocal abilities for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of functional dysphonia, and the diagnosis of processes associated with infiltration of a pathological process in the vocal muscle. In recent years, high-magnification laryngostroboscopes have been used. They allow better magnification and visibility, as well as video recording of the image. The prosthetic base is an important element in the construction of prosthetic structures. It not only provides stability to the prosthesis, but also affects the speech function. The relevance and importance of scientific issues for the study of voice capabilities in dental prosthetics are due to the fact that, in recent years, dental medicine has undergone a number of changes related to the evolution of technologies and methods for manufacturing dentures and materials that are used in the process. The aim is to synthesize a structure that, on the one hand, is strong enough not to fracture during mastication and thin enough not to affect the patient’s speech function. This means that dental professionals need to develop their skills to work with new and innovative technologies.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"208 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85871445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing literature reveals the role of some sociodemographic factors (age, income). Aim: The aim of this article is to study the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of organic food consumers. Materials and Methods: From November 2020–April 2021, 150 consumers from Dobrich district were inter-viewed about their awareness and attitude to buy organic foods. The results of the study were statistically processed using Jamovi, version 2.2.5. The criterion χ 2 (Pearson’s Chi-square) was used, with significance levels α = 0.05 and α = 0.1. Results: The largest relative share of regular consumers is that of individuals buying organic foods once a week. The analysis of the data shows that the relative share of women in the sample predominates. A statistically significant difference was found in nine of the tested hypotheses about the differences be-tween men and women. The data show that more often women are the ones who buy food products, incl. organic foods. Conclusion: The profile of the consumers of organic foods is related to gender. The growing trend towards the consumption of organic food in the world, including in Bulgaria, is due to the potential health benefits, to which mostly women have an attitude.","PeriodicalId":21710,"journal":{"name":"Scripta Scientifica Medica","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74913674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
