The design goals of the prosthetic hand are cosmetics, dexterity and controllability. The modular architecture of the bio-mechatronic hand is composed of the following functional subdivisions: the implanted unit (the neural interface electrodes + Patient Neural Recording / Simulating Unit ‹PNR/SU›), the embedded system unit (Neural Processing and Coding System Block + Prosthetic Hand Control and Sensing Block) and the prosthetic hand. The PNR/SU is where the neural signal originating from the Central Nervous System of the patient is processed and converted to a digital signal which is then transmitted to the following functional blocks. Also it can provide the patient with a sensory feedback, acording to the data provided by the previous functional blocks in the feedback flow. The novelty of the approach consists in the bidirectional wireless transmission of the digitalized neural signal, between the implanted unit and the embedded sytem unit for the complete electric insulation of the patient from the high voltages that may occur in the prosthetic hand functional block, but also for the mobility, flexibility, compatibility and high scale integration of the prosthetic system.","PeriodicalId":215102,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th International Symposium for Design and Technology of Electronics Packages (SIITME)","volume":"03 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116136963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, lithium-ion is the fastest growing and most promising battery chemistry as lithium is the lightest of all metals, has the greatest electrochemical potential and provides the largest energy density for weight. In the design of battery supplyed devices, monitoring the amount of electric charge in the battery is very important. Its role is that of assuring the optimum amount of energy that can be extracted from the battery, which is realised by monitoring the charge/discharge processes. In this paper a model was developed to estimate a battery's state of charge and voltage. The model was conducted on a GP lithium-ion battery.","PeriodicalId":215102,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th International Symposium for Design and Technology of Electronics Packages (SIITME)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130996718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The usual quadruplet structure of a fourth-order filter offers two transmission zeros, located one on each side of the passband. For one of the two adjacent channels, a considerably higher attenuation can be obtained by designing filters with both transmission zeros in the same (upper or lower) stopband. The new topology investigated in this paper offers the possibility of designing such quadruplets with two transmission zeroes located both on the same side of the passband, in prescribed and controlled positions. Filters with this novel structure can provide very high attenuation not only at a single frequency, but in a larger adjacent frequency band.","PeriodicalId":215102,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th International Symposium for Design and Technology of Electronics Packages (SIITME)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133025645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device presented aims to give back laptop computers all the functionalities that have been eliminated due to size restrictions. The main user interface is displayed on a touch screen, the user having the ability to switch between two graphic interfaces: one on which the mouse buttons and numeric and arithmetic keys are present, and one for the remote control mode, where multimedia keys are displayed. Device movement is read by using a laser motion sensor mounted on the bottom of the device. Communication with the host PC is done using wireless technology, via Bluetooth, leaving out the frustration that is represented by cords and connectors. On the PC side, a special application has been developed, which is capable of decoding the data packet transmitted by the mouse, and determines the operating system to replicate gestures on the PC, such as typing numbers and text, or moving the cursor, accordingly to the data transmitted by the device.","PeriodicalId":215102,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th International Symposium for Design and Technology of Electronics Packages (SIITME)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128907129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The simple way for checking the control algorithms time constrain is to simulate on real-time platforms together with plant models. After establishing the optimal dimensions from the point of view of the sensitivity as well as costs, question arise concerning the functioning of the sensor in real employment conditions. It has been observed that temperature as well as humidity influence the way the sensor behaves, requiring additional calibration actions. The influence of water vapors was also of interest. In order to fully characterize the sensor, all this influences need to be studied. This paper focuses on characterizing the sensor by highlighting these effects through measurements and, where possible, through simulations.","PeriodicalId":215102,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th International Symposium for Design and Technology of Electronics Packages (SIITME)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123450956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
