This studied structure has been controlled with an indirect sliding-mode controller to keep the voltages of the output capacitors balance. In some applications in renewable energy systems such as fuel cells, output voltage control is the final objective. Thus, an outer voltage loop with an energy controller can compute the current references. The controller performance in terms of tracking and its effect on the voltage balance of the output capacitors are investigated. Simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink are given in two scenarios, in which the reference value for the output voltage decreases and increases.","PeriodicalId":213924,"journal":{"name":"2022 13th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129473569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The slot skewing method effectively alleviates the vibration/sound issue in induction motors; however, it has some disadvantages, such as a decrease in output torque, intensified stray losses due to inter-bar currents, and an increase in iron loss. In this regard, this paper studies a double non-skewed rotor (DNSR) as a possible alternative to skewed designs. The study, first, investigates the electromagnetic force and vibration modes of the proposed design. Later, a coupled analysis is used to study the vibration and sound pressure level of the system. The results show that the new method could avoid the disadvantages of the conventional skewing and significantly reduce the vibration and acoustic noise.","PeriodicalId":213924,"journal":{"name":"2022 13th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC)","volume":"2205 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130158082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the high volume and mass of transformer and coupled-inductor-based converters besides their EMI and leakage inductance problems are absent in this topology. In the MFPC, the classic model of the plant is substituted by an ultra-local model (ULM) that does not depend on the parameters and the uncertain variables of the system. In this manner, the model-free scheme improves the robustness of the predictive control system. This paper presents an integral sliding mode observer (ISMO)based MFPC for the induction motor (IM) drive. The proposed ISMO is utilized to establish an ULM for the IM. The ISMO guarantees the complete robustness of the system throughout an entire period. This feature is studied by using the Lyapunov candidate function. The implementation of the proposed MFPC is performed by the finite-set predictive current control (FSPCC). The proposed ISMO-based MFPC is evaluated through simulations and experimental tests.","PeriodicalId":213924,"journal":{"name":"2022 13th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133712485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper investigates the deployment of a railway DC grid to feed electric bus (E-bus) opportunity charging stations by considering the real data of line in Zara street in Milan city as a real case study. A smart voltage stabilizer is studied and modeled for this system to overcome the issue of voltage fluctuation produced by trams’ acceleration and braking and consequently maximize opportunity charging stations’ performance. This approach has several advantages, including creating a set of lower-cost E-bus charging stations by making use of the existing traction DC grid and its equipment, regulating the DC grid’s voltage and maximizing the performance of chargers, and making use of regenerative braking energy (RBE) of trams instead of dissipation by braking resistors. The proposed stabilizing controlling system is aimed at keeping the voltage in a predefined bandwidth (550-630V DC). In MATLAB/Simulink, the performance of such a system is simulated and evaluated throughout the time it takes a tram to travel between two stops.","PeriodicalId":213924,"journal":{"name":"2022 13th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132646286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the most photovoltaic systems, power transformers are used in order to provide galvanic isolation between power system and PV cell. In Some structures, an isolated DC/DC converter with high frequency transformer based on multi-level inverters are being used. The proposed topology is capable to create a 9-level output voltage. The proposed control strategy uses a novel operation mode identification to provide a proper response considering common nonlinearities in the power system. Owing to its asymmetric topology, A-CS generates higher number of voltage levels using the same number of power components and total standing voltage (TSV) compared to symmetric topologies such as the cascaded H-bridge (CHB). Also, it features a high scalability to achieve higher voltage levels. The main goal in the A-CS based STATCOM is to control the voltages of several capacitors in different values in addition to the reactive current control. This paper presents a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) to achieve this goal. Taking the advantage of three multi-objective cost functions, the control goals are met while the computation burden of the controller is reduced.
