In this paper, we propose adaptive resource management policy to handle requests of deadline-bound application with elastic cloud. Adaptive resource management architecture has been proposed, and we divide resource management into two parts, resource provision and job scheduling. We design analytical provision model for adaptive provision based on queuing theory, by introducing a key metric named average interval time. Three job scheduling policies are raised to dequeue appropriate jobs to execute, First-Come-First-Service (FCFS), Shortest Job First (SJF) and Nearest Deadline First (NDF), for different preference toward execution order. Simulation evaluation has been set up with realistic grid workload, and results show that our provisioning model gives elastic resource provisioning for dynamic workload and FCFS achieves better performance compared with other scheduling policies.","PeriodicalId":213782,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Service Sciences (ICSS)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128124427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, how to choice a desired cloud service from the pools of candidate services is becoming an increasingly important research issue. The reason is that a group of functionally equivalent or overlapped alternatives are difficult to quantify in service decision making. A multi-criteria decision-making (MCMD) method based on AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is proposed in the paper to transform consumer's qualitative and semi-quantitative personalized preference into quantitative numeric weights. The case study in medical cloud environment is used to validate the feasibility and effectively of our method.","PeriodicalId":213782,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Service Sciences (ICSS)","volume":"9 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134626531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research indicates that the support of social forces and development of service industry are significantly and positively correlated to the improvement of public cultural services, but significantly and negatively correlated to educational environment, while local expenditure in public cultural services doesn't greatly affect their improvement because it only accounts for a small proportion. Thus, local governments' concern, higher-level governments' increasing support and transfer payment, equalization of public cultural services, improvement of resource utilization and optimized allocation are essential for improving public cultural services.","PeriodicalId":213782,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Service Sciences (ICSS)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115619898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Service network is a complex network composed of a set of service components and the input-output relationships between them, and it has the powerful capacity of being customized to fulfill different personalized customer requirements. There might be multiple customized solutions in terms of one requirement, and different solution has varied usage cost, therefore to find the optimal one with minimal cost is necessary. Because it is a NP-hard problem, we propose an optimization method based on ABC algorithm, where a food source represents one solution (a sub network), and the optimization goal is to minimize the cost under the constraints of total response time and reliability raised by the customer. The optimal solution is found based on the group intelligence of bees. Experiment results demonstrate the ABC algorithm can quickly find the optimal customized solution.","PeriodicalId":213782,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Service Sciences (ICSS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121400832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an emerging Web 2.0 technology, mashup enables end-users to integrate separated Web sources to create innovative applications. However, today's researches on mashup primarily focus on data integration and presentation integration instead of business process. This paper proposes a process mashup model based on complex event processing, which leverages event-driven Publish/Subscribe communication paradigm to orchestrate browser-side components. The model also provides a definition language of composite events to help end-users to define the process behavior, and consequently shields them from traditional process constructs like conditional branching and looping, allowing them to create articulated business processes in a lightweight fashion.","PeriodicalId":213782,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Service Sciences (ICSS)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114953524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of availability of e-government website can be solved with development of service monitoring. The service monitoring must be able to meet the QoS (Quality of Service) measurement criteria: availability, reliability, and security. In addition, the service monitoring must also be able to take measurements and testing of several different places. Through this research, developed an agent-based monitoring system that has been tested to some government sites. Therefore, how to integrate the existed web services to form more complex services to meet the personalized needs for different users, which provide a variety of special functions, have become a new hot research area in the recent years. Based on the present advances of web service composition, it proposes a service collaborative evaluation framework to support service coordination in multi domains. Furthermore, the cooperative control and execution engine (CCEE) for service matching and evaluation is designed and implemented in this paper. For the result of service collaborative evaluation based on CCEE, it uses several evaluation strategies to establish the appropriate combination evaluation algorithm by using the case-based reasoning (CBR) mechanism.
