This paper aims to propose an alternative for the use of this type of sludge in a sustainable way, with a low impact on the environment. The study consisted of experiments done to recover the stabilized sludge from the urban wastewater treatment plants in the process of degraded land rehabilitation, using the energetic willow, Salix sp. The experimental results showed that the use of stabilized sludge as fertilizer for naturally and anthropogenic degraded lands determined the improvement of nutritional characteristics of the lands cultivated with Salix sp., and allowed the growth, development, and maintenance of this plant. Taking into consideration the characteristics of the cultures and the quantities of metals accumulated by Salix sp., it can be concluded that these plants were adapted to the environmental conditions and the substrate toxically composition. The results obtained on two degraded lands indicate that Salix sp. can be used for its introduction in the economic circuit, both for salty soils and ash dumps.","PeriodicalId":21370,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Ecology & Environmental Chemistry","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76829952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted over five years (2013- 2017). The results obtained for the analyzed parameters were compared with the maximum allowed values (MAV) by the legislation in force. The results showed that for the car wash there was only one exceeding of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) parameter during the whole study period. The sweet producer and the provider of the automatic access systems evacuated wastewater with exceedances of MAV for the parameters: COD, BOD5, zinc, suspended solids, extractable substances in organic solvents, and total phosphorus. To evaluate the quality of the wastewater discharged by these two agents, the quality indices of wastewater (WWQI) were calculated. For the sweet producer, the calculated water quality indices had values between 62.4 - 92.7%, with a classification of wastewater, discharged in the quality class: marginal to good quality. For the provider of automatic access systems, the value of the quality index was between 74.2 and 85.5, the discharged wastewater being considered fair or good.","PeriodicalId":21370,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Ecology & Environmental Chemistry","volume":"236 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80365687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A special emphasis was put on a descriptive statistical analysis of data, namely on the determination of seasonal indices during dry and wet seasons. Nitrate and nitrite concentrations were monitored in 24 groundwater sources situated in different areas,\u0000between January 2016 and February 2020. The obtained data showed that the values of nitrate concentrations were situated between 8.03 mg/L in the North-Eastern part of Romania, 6.37 mg/L in the South-Eastern part of the country, and 3.55 mg/L in the\u0000Western part towards the center of the country. Nitrite concentration values were situated under the national maximum admitted limit, 0.5 mg/L, in all the investigated areas. The obtained data shows small changes in water quality during the monitoring period, which leads to the conclusion that, in this long interval of time, there were no significant groundwater contaminations with nitrate and nitrite. For adequate control of water pollution and rigorous management of groundwater sources, seasonal indices were calculated.","PeriodicalId":21370,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Ecology & Environmental Chemistry","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91255371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
