The voltage controlled gating pulses to inverter are of variable frequency by using carrier based PWM with reference to sinusoidal waveform to achieve desired results. The torque and flux estimation block and speed error control block are the heart for this control system. The analysis is developed by using MATLAB/ SIMULINK. The proposed fuzzy based technique is used to maintain smooth torque transform and maintains desired torque even though there is change in generator speed or vice-versa. The system stability and current extraction can be improved by using FLC than PI controller, even under sudden changes in speed and torque of the machine. The torque ripples were less for both PI and FLC based controller scheme compared to previous techniques. Torque surges due to sudden change in speed of machine can also be minimized by using proposed fuzzy controller scheme. The comparisons of PI with FLC for wind turbine based induction generator were studied under 2 cases, in 1st case, constant generator speed and variable change in wind speed, torque and in the 2nd case, variable speed generator and variable speed of wind.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123467716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of steganography is to avoid drawing suspicion to the transmission of a hidden message. If suspicion is raised, then this goal is defeated. It serves as a better way of securing message than cryptography which only conceals the content of the message not the existence of the message. Original message is being hidden within a carrier such that the changes so occurred in the carrier are not observable. Many different carrier file formats can be used, but digital images are the most popular because of their frequency on the Internet. The recent growth in computational power and technology has propelled it to the forefront of today's security techniques. This paper presents a review of the literature on different types of contemporary steganography techniques for image in spatial and transform domains and steganalysis techniques for the detection of secret message in the image. In addition, research trends and challenges are identified and directions for future research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124636108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The general structure of the multilevel converter is to synthesize a sinusoidal voltage from several levels of voltages, Multilevel voltage source converters are emerging as a new breed of power converter options for high power applications, These converter topologies can generate high-quality voltage waveforms with power semiconductor switches operating at a frequency near the fundamental. Among the available multilevel converter topologies, the cascaded multilevel converter constitutes a promising alternative, providing a modular design that can be extended to allow a transformer less connection. This paper presents a three-phase, five-level and seven level cascaded multilevel voltage source inverter based active filter for power line conditioning to improve power quality in the distribution network. The active filter compensates both reactive power and harmonic currents drawn by non-linear loads; additionally it facilitates power factor corrections. The compensation process is based on concept of p-q theory. This proposed cascaded five level and seven level active power filter system is validated through MATLAB/SEMULINK Platform.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115298377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

UPFC has two converters, one is series converter which controls the transmission line real or reactive power flow and other is the shunt converter which controls the bus voltage or shunt reactive power and DC link capacitor voltage. In steady state, the real power demand of the series converter is supplied by the shunt converter of the UPFC. The need for reactive power coordination controller for UPFC arises from the fact that excessive bus voltage (the bus to which the shunt converter is connected) excursions occur during reactive power transfers. A new reactive power coordination controller has been designed to limit excessive voltage excursions during reactive power transfers.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127000290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As result of which, diagnosis of cancer especially in lungs becomes less accurate and unreliable. So, a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system, based on artificial intelligence that efficiently detects nodules of any shape and size, is used for diagnosis without human intervention. In this work, we have developed a two stage CAD system in which the first stage involves pre-processing applied for a better quality image to enable higher success rate on detection following which the cancerous nodule region is segmented. The second stage involves artificial neural network (ANN) architecture which is trained using a modified BFGS algorithm. The proposed system was trained, tested, and evaluated specifically on the problem of detecting lung cancer nodules found on CT images to give a positive detection. A significant comparative analysis was done between the proposed method and several existing CAD systems used for lung nodule diagnosis and the proposed method using training-based neural networks prove to provide accuracy of 96.7% and also better specificity; thus, the overall performance of the CAD scheme was improved substantially.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126351132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonlinear loads such as traditional diode/thyristor rectifiers with R, L, C loads generate harmonic and reactive current, which leads to poor power factor, low energy efficiency, and harmful disturbance to other appliances. Active Power Filters (APFs) are one of the viable solutions to eliminate the power line harmonic/reactive currents generated by nonlinear loads and improve the power factor. D-Statcom is connected in parallel with the nonlinear loads and functions as current sources to cancel the harmonic/reactive components in the line current so that the current flow into and from the grid is sinusoidal and in phase with the grid voltage. A hysteresis controller is used for tracking error. The actual current tracks the reference current either in the upper band or in the lower band, resulting in an bier eased tracking error. The results are analyzed and presented using Matlab/Simulink software.","PeriodicalId":213443,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Engineering and Energy Management (ICETEEEM)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127769343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
