However, it is efficient to use SEM in later scattering time, especially after creeping waves reach the observation point. A combination of a discrete Fourier transformation (DFT-SEM) and an SEM expansion is reported that gives good results in the entire time domain. The method avoids the difficulties of SEM in calculation of early time responses and is more efficient and exact than the DFT method alone. Because contributions to the response are considered over all the frequency domain, there is no restriction on the excitation, it can be an impulse that has a white spectrum. The solutions given by the DFT-SEM method have high precision and are insensitive to frequency-response errors.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":211271,"journal":{"name":"1988 IEEE AP-S. In addition to the performance issues of dispersion loss and compressed pulse widths associated with wideband phased arrays, subarrayed architectures add the problem of wideband sidelobes, or subarray grating lobes. The authors address the relationships between these three performance parameters and the effect that three different spectral filtering techniques have on them. Three filtering scenes are studied: a matching filter, a matching filter following by a weighting filter in combination, and a weighting filter with Taylor distributed weights.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":211271,"journal":{"name":"1988 IEEE AP-S. To date a considerable amount of work in this area has been done using a Gaussian and an exponential-type JPDF. Unlike the Gaussian JPDF, the exponential-type JPDF fails to meet the requirement that the random variables (which represent surface heights) become independent when uncorrelated. An exponential JPDF which splits into the product two sided exponential PDFs has been derived by applying certain nonlinear transformation to the square of the envelope and the phase of a narrowband Gaussian random process. The application of this JPDF is presented.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":211271,"journal":{"name":"1988 IEEE AP-S. It simulates wave propagation in bounded space, describing the transient response at each point. Application of the principle of causality or introduction of absorbent wells allows the extension of the TLM method to open structures. The method was tested on linear wire antennas and then successfully applied to microstrip antennas. Despite the relatively cumbersome numerical computation involved, the method is quite advantageous for complex geometries (limitation of the ground plane or substrate, excitation by slots, or coupling).<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":211271,"journal":{"name":"1988 IEEE AP-S.
