Vitale","doi":"10.24084/REPQJ16.446","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24084/REPQJ16.446","url":null,"abstract":"This paper is focused on the behaviour of non-linear inductors employed in DC/DC switching converters considering the effects due to variations of both current and temperature. The characterization of the inductors is performed by a buck converter operated to stimulate the inductor under test by a constant current with superimposed a large signal. The measurements are carried out at several inductor’s temperature values. Data are automatically collected by a novel virtual instrument developed by the authors in LabVIEW environment aiming to obtain a polynomial based analytical model. Silva","doi":"10.24084/REPQJ16.346","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24084/REPQJ16.346","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents a hybrid maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm, which combines the grey wolf optimization (GWO) technique and Beta method for extraction of maximum power from a photovoltaic (PV) system operating under partial shading conditions. The proposed algorithm named GWO-Beta-based MPPT uses the GWO technique to achieve the global maximum power point (GMPP), while, simultaneously, the MPPT reference using Beta method is calculated according to the PV voltage and current at GMPP. After that, the MPPT algorithm is switched to operate only with the Beta method that keeps tracked on the MPP reference, guarantying the GMPP in that specific operation point. Vector control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) drive for variable speed wind power generation is described. A slip ring (wound rotor) induction generator with back to back three phase PWM converter between its rotor and the grid forms the electrical system. A vector control scheme for the PWM converters results in independent control of active and reactive power. Line (supply) voltage oriented reference frame has been used to independently control the active and reactive power. A machine mathematical model is presented including the magnetic circuit saturation through the inductance representation of the phases by Fourier series expansion. The equations for the linkage flux, coenergy and electromagnetic torque are obtained from the inductance expression. The simulation was performed in Matlab/Simulink.
