Yield stability could be achieved by improvement in future breeding based on information of cereal reproduction under changed environmental conditions. Landraces are valuable sources of beneficial alleles, e.g. tolerance to drought and improved grain yield, for introgression into adapted germplasm. Twenty-six drought tolerant maize landraces, selected among gene bank accessions and previously tested under controlled drought conditions and in temperate climate, were evaluated, at two sites and two plant densities in Zemun Polje. Since 2014 was with enormous rainfalls and flooding, morphological and agronomical traits were measured. Obtained data, together with the results from dry 2012, were plotted for principal component analysis. One local landrace and two introduced landraces, medium in maturity, were selected according to PC analysis and achieved grain yield that was stable across different climatic conditions.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"53 1","pages":"24-29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71042287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The direct undersowing of degraded pasture stands was done after harvest with these legumes: birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus L.), red clover (Trifoliumpratense L.), black medick (Medicago lupulina L.), arrowleaf clover (Trifolium vesiculosum Savi), and common vetch (Vicia sativa L.). The undersowing of degraded seed production stands of alfalfa was done in autumn of the fourth year of using with subterranean clover (Tr. subterraneum ssp. brachycalicinum cv. Antas). Red clover showed the best results in terms of suitability for the direct undersowing of degraded pasture stands. Subterranean clover could be used for the direct undersowing of the degraded alfalfa seed production stands due to its self-seeding ability.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"53 1","pages":"46-52"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71041545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The highest crop density measured prior to the root harvest (sixth year), was obtained in the plot with bPB film (84%), while in the plot with bPE and in control (without mulch) number of plants was reduced by 34.2% and 45%, respectively. In addition, application of the bPB film proved to be the most effective treatment; in the fifth and sixth year root yields per m2 increased by 92.3% and 106.0%, respectively, in comparison to bPE, and by 78.9% and 69.2%, respectively, in comparison to sPE, and by 184.4% and 169.6%, respectively, in comparison to control. Application of bPE had a lower positive effect on YG root yield than control (-18.6%-54.95%), whereas the effect of sPE was higher than the bPE and control; the achieved root yields were higher, 29.7% and 70.6%, respectively.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"53 1","pages":"30-37"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71042301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, garlic rust (Puccinia spp.) has been increasingly present in our agro-ecological climate, developing into a significant problem for garlic production. The aim of the study was twofold: i) to monitor winter garlic rust rate in organic and in conventional production, and ii) to monitor genotype sensitivity to the pathogen in both production systems. Trials were conducted in 2012/2013 in Backi Petrovac, Serbia at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, and included 30 genotypes planted in organic and conventional field, simultaneously. Disease severity was evaluated visually, using a scoring system between zero and five. Overall average infection intensity score in conventional plots was 1.18, and in organic plots 0.79. There was no statistically significant difference between infection intensity in conventional versus organic plots. Nevertheless, reactions of certain genotypes to the causal agents of rust differed across organic and conventional plots ranging from no apparent infection symptoms in organic to severe symptoms in conventional plots.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"52 1","pages":"39-43"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71040564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is produced from seedlings in the Republic of Serbia and quantity of seed used for seedlings depends on germination and 1000 seed mass, and ranges from 250 to 350 g ha-1. The aim of this paper was to determine effect of fruit maturity stages and storage duration of harvested fruit on eggplant seed quality. Seed was extracted from technologically mature, semi-mature and botanically mature fruit. Germination energy, germination and 1000 seed mass were tested after seed extraction. Part of harvested fruit was stored for 10 and 20 days, after which seed was extracted and the same seed qualities were tested. It was determined that seed from technologically mature fruit had germination around 25%. In semi-mature fruit, germination abruptly increased from 2% (seed extracted after harvest) to 88% (seed extracted 20 days after harvest). Seed obtained from botanically mature fruit had maximum germination after storing for 20 days after harvest and amounted to 99%. In all tested variants, 1000 seed mass increased with storage life, and it reached 5.48 g in botanically mature fruit.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"39 1","pages":"7-13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71040731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trial with three winter rapeseed genotypes (Banacanka, Slavica and NS-H-2) was set up at Rimski Sancevi (Vojvodina) during growing seasons of 2009/2010 and 2010/2011. Seed was sown with inter row spacing of 25 cm, and spacing within the rows of 5 cm, 8 cm, 10 cm and 16 cm. The following parameters were tested upon harvesting: seed germination, 1000 seed weight, test weight, seed yield, oil content and total protein in seed. No effect of planting density was observed on rapeseed seed quality produced in 2009/10 and 2010/11, which should be kept in mind when determining the quantity of seed required for sowing.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"52 1","pages":"61-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71040957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those indices are tools for aggregating and simplifying agroecosystem impact on the environment. The data were acquired from a long-term experiment at the Rimski Sancevi experimental station of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, Serbia. Observed indicators were compared by using datasets from 2001 to 2010, across five maize cropping systems. Maize continuous cropping resulted with decrease in the utilization of the agroecological potential compared with the fertilized crop rotation. Long term maize-based cropping resulted with differences in soil organic carbon content, soil pH and temporal soil NO3. However, recommended fertilizers application and crop rotation contributed to the overall agroecosystems ability to decrease the anthropogenic pressure. Accordingly, it was found that yield decrease resulted mostly from inability of the cropping systems to utilize agricultural management (tillage, fertilization, etc.) in variable environmental conditions. For the investigated trial the performance based index showed that a 2-year maize cropping had the highest capacity for sustainable maize growing.","PeriodicalId":20996,"journal":{"name":"Ratarstvo i Povrtarstvo","volume":"52 1","pages":"102-107"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71041924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
