Kozhokin’s Revolution and Overcoming It. Essays on the History of the Russian Mentality. The study under review holds a unique position among the new works devoted to the Russian history at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, according to the author. She stresses that Evgeny Kozhokin avoids to describe in detail the events of the monumental transfor- mations caused by the First World War and the 1917 revolution, opting to focus instead on the mental aspects of the behaviour and actions of the people who influenced those events. The author also points out that Evgeny Kozhokin uses a dialogical approach to history, under which national, political, historical and cultural identities are unfolded and shown as a dialogue between the past and the present. E.M. Kozhokin aims at both studying existential cognition of the Russian mentality and developing such algorithms of the state governance as would allow for reshaping political culture and avoiding potential revolu- tions in the future.","PeriodicalId":209501,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. Analyzing the course, circumstances and results of those many-sided contacts, the author came to the conclusion that the cross-border cooperation between the two countries was influenced by an example of the effective work of the “Eurore- gions” created in the EU countries. The positive experience accumulated earlier in the countries of Western and Central Europe promised the transformation of the border regions of Russia and Ukraine into a kind of locomotives of the economic and socio-humanitarian cooperation between the countries. However, the creation of similar Euroregions on the Russian-Ukrainian border was delayed until the beginning of the 21st century. Only the stabilization of the economic situation in the post-Soviet space and overcoming the economic shock that fol- lowed the collapse of the Soviet Union created the necessary prerequisites for a large-scale intensification of the cross-border cooperation. The most dynamic de- velopment on the Russian-Ukrainian border in 2002–2013 was the development of the Euroregions “Donbass”, “Slobozhanshchina” and “Yaroslavna”. Unfortu- nately, the gradual increase in tension between Moscow and Kiev, characteristic of the 2000s, significantly slowed down the formation of those Euroregions. The political crisis that began in 2014 and continues up to the present day has finally made the development of the cross-border cooperation between Russian and Ukrainian regions unlikely.","PeriodicalId":209501,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FORM AND STYLE OF BELARUSIAN NARRATIVE SHORT STORY OF THE 20–30S OF THE 20TH CENTURY 20世纪20 - 30年代白俄罗斯叙事短篇小说的形式与风格特征

It is shown that the mentioned period is marked by radical changes in the content and form components of the national literature. The socio-political and cultural situation of that time offers writers a wide range of new themes and plots. The writers thereby quite often use traditional genres and genre modifications. As a result, new genre forms with specific form-building and style-forming features appear. The analysis of these forms is carried out using the categorical apparatus of narratology (narrative theory). The paper studies such a genre modification of a short story as a “narrative short story” as well as its varieties, for example, a tale, which are common in Belarusian literature. The tale is a productive form of the named genre modification; it is particularly popular during the period of social upheavals, as evidenced by Russian and Belarusian literature examples. It is noted that the narrator, often non-personalized, is the form-building center of the narrative short story; the features of his presence in the text are described and the importance of the recipient for understanding the text is determined. It is also indicated that the main style-forming component of the narrative short history of the above period is the interference between the texts of narrators and characters.","PeriodicalId":209501,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. The author reports that the Sarazm settlement was first discovered in 1976 by A.I. Isakov and since then it has been the subject to close interest of Tajik, Russian, French archaeologists. Within the course of their work, such important characteristics of Sarazm as the initial size of the settlement, its chronology, the evolution of the economy of the Sarazmians, and others were established. In particular, there are four periods in the Sarazmian history: 3500–3200 BC, 3200–2900 BC, 2900–2700 BC and 2700–2000 BC. The high days of the settlement came in the period of the Late Paleolithic and Early Bronze Age. The Sarazm population was engaged in agriculture and livestock breeding, the crafts of the Sarazmians were at a high level, as evidenced by the finding of well-preserved buildings (palatial , religious, residential), tools and jewelry. The author also emphasizes that the Sarazm settlement was one of the main metallurgical centers of the region, which used its own raw materials (due to the rich resource potential of the mountains in the upper reaches of the Zeravshan River) and had steady contacts with the ancient population of Iran, Baluchistan, Afghanistan, India and others. The uniqueness of the historical and archaeological site of Sarazm and its significance for world history and culture were confirmed in 2010, when Sarazm was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.","PeriodicalId":209501,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. The presidency institution can also be viewed and studied as a multidimensional communicative community, with the head of the state as the main actor. Besides the president, that communicative community also includes the president’s “team” (administration, advisors, speechwriters, plenipotentiaries, etc.), as well as certain media, especially journalists of the presidential pool. The presidential discourse is formed within the said community. Given the increasing complexity of the communication phenomenon in the contemporary world, the study of the presidency from the point of view of the communication theory seems to be an urgent scientific task. The paper uses examples of the United States of America and the Russian Federation to examine the institution of presidency as a phenomenon belonging to the field of political communication. By the term “communication” or “speech communication” the author understands the interaction of communicants – addressee and addressee, speaker and audience – through the verbal exchange of information with different purposes. The main object of analysis is the presidents’ annual oral addresses – “Addresses to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation” and “Addresses to the US Congress”.","PeriodicalId":209501,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin.
