One of the main soil deposits found all over the world is soft soil, which has a high expansion and contraction of capacity due to the changes in moisture content. Through the process of controlled compaction or by adding appropriate admixtures such as cement, lime, sand, and fly ash, soil stabilization enhances the physical characteristics of soil, such as its shear strength and bearing capacity. By reducing waste production and generating useful materials from non-useful wastes, innovative technology for soil stabilization can be used to tackle societal concerns.","PeriodicalId":209094,"journal":{"name":"Borneo Journal of Sciences and Technology","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131534536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a setup requires the experiment to be repeated for a series of regular, consecutive increments of height while the time for each fall is recorded. To perform the act of measuring height and time in a hybrid setting is not physically possible for remote learning. The setup described in this paper, incorporates the use of object tracking and data logging programmes on the Raspberry Pi microcomputer in place of physical measurements. The improvised setup yields the conventional XY plotter that verifies the relationship between height displacement and time variables, confirming the accuracy and applicability of the setup for a hybrid teaching laboratory.","PeriodicalId":209094,"journal":{"name":"Borneo Journal of Sciences and Technology","volume":"3 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129307551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, due to the not a practical conceptual framework, there are lacking information on CES studies in the urban area. So, the aim of this paper systematically analyzes the works of literature on the recreational benefits of CES. A total of 38 journal paper systematical analysis found that MEA and TEEB are often to be used rather than CICES because it is still new in this field. Moreover, a total of 23 indicators indicate the value of recreation in the green space. Recreation should define as the natural landscape of people's preference for spending their leisure time interacting with physical and experiential facilitating outdoor activities to promote health and enjoyment. Subsequently, this study can also conclude that non-monetary assessments are the best approach to conducting empirical studies of CES. Simultaneously, in-depth studies are needed to look at the feasibility of these indicators for the ecosystem of the global.","PeriodicalId":209094,"journal":{"name":"Borneo Journal of Sciences and Technology","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127495674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The void reduces the beam’s weight while increasing its strength-to-weight ratio. It also reduces the moment of inertia and cross-sectional area, affecting the beam's load capacity. This effect is not considered by the existing beam theories, especially when the void is present in the tension zone. In this study, an equation model is derived to predict the load capacity of hollow beams. The reduced moment of inertia and cross-sectional area are considered while computing the moment and shear capacities, respectively. The model is then validated using experimental data from 11 specimens tested under a four-point load setup. In the specimens, PVC pipes of 25 mm to 75 mm in diameter were placed between 39 mm and 139 mm from the beam's soffit. From the validation analysis, the load capabilities are incorrectly predicted. The variation exceeds 10% of the experimental results, with a 36.1% average absolute error. Only four out of the eleven specimens' failure modes are correctly predicted. The model has a 95.4% chance predicting a 20% lower load capacity than the actual hollow beam. Thus, it could be used to design hollow beams. However, due to limited data, the hollow beam's shear strength is not verified. Thus, the model should not be used for hollow beams prone to shear failure.","PeriodicalId":209094,"journal":{"name":"Borneo Journal of Sciences and Technology","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115384941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has become a debatable issue in automotive industry due to tailorable features in line with driving and road condition of a specific place. This paper intends to clarify on the selection of representative driving parameters from the pool of microtrips based on the data gathered throughout Sarawak continent. Joint method of car chasing and circulation techniques were employed during data collection. Routes were selected by assessing the traffic volume extracted from Road Traffic Volume Malaysia (RTVM) and three traffic conditions were incorporated. Data collection had extended to collect three different periods of the week namely peak hour, off-peak hour and weekend to account potential traffic condition. Pearson product-moment correlation was applied to express the correlation between parameters and K-means cluster method in order to classify the microtrips. Through analysis, it was convinced that percentage of idle is most suited to be used to evaluate representativeness of microtrips. These findings could significantly contribute to developing a comprehensive and representative region-specific driving cycle.","PeriodicalId":209094,"journal":{"name":"Borneo Journal of Sciences and Technology","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117132675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
