The aim was to study the influence of a magnetised water technology on the fertilisers during irrigation (fertigation) and its impact on the water, soil as well as the yield and yield components for potatoes. The experiment included: Normal water (NM), magnetic water (MW), adding fertiliser before (FMW) and after magnetism (MWF). The results indicated that irrigation with magnetised water and then adding fertiliser (MWF) had a positive significant effect on the water and soil properties, the tuber engineering parameters improved and the potato productivity increased by 40.5% higher than the NM method. The fertigation unit has to be installed after the magnetic device because the direct magnetisation of the water with the fertilisers contributes to the cracking and increases the solubility of the fertilisers that may lead to the possibility of leaching some of them away from the roots, which implies losing some of them and, therefore, decreasing the effectiveness of the fertilisers.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":"43-51"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/1/2020-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42765093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Milking units with a conventional and tri-circle shape of the pulsation chamber were used. The conclusions are related to the reaction of the teat support and the changes of the time components in the pulsogram. The filling of the milking chamber with an artificial teat reduces the absolute duration of the transitional phases \"a\" and \"c\" and prolongs the actual phases \"b\" and \"d\" in all the experimental rates.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":"27-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/40/2019-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47063632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simultaneously, this process also makes it possible to exploit part of the energy released in the agricultural production. Biochar, viewed as the solid product of biomass pyrolysis, is a remarkable, porous material, rich in carbon. Two agricultural crop residues, such as wheat and barley straw, were selected for the experimental studies. The results indicate that the practical temperature for the production of biochar from the two explored materials occurs in the vicinity of 600 °C. Starting at this temperature, the biochar produced complies safely with the principal European Biochar Certificate standards (EBC 2012). Thus, for the wheat straw and barley straw – originated char, the content of the carbon amounts to 67.2 and 67.0 mass %, the atomic ratio H : C is as large as 0.032 and 0.026, and the specific surface area amounts to 217 and 201 m2⋅g–1, respectively.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":"8-17"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/26/2019-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42006722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the ways to detect the adequate time to process the olives is to determine their moisture content. In this study, to determine the moisture content of olives, a dielectric technique was used in seven periods of harvesting and three different varieties of olive including Oily, Mary and Fishemi. The dielectric properties of the olive fruits were measured using an electronic device in the range of 0.1–30 MHz. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Support Vector Regression (SVR) methods were applied to develop the prediction models by using the obtained data acquired by the system. The best results (R = 0.999 and MSE = 0.014) were obtained by the ANN model with a topology of 384–12–1 (384 features in the input vector, 12 neurons in the hidden layer and 1 output). The results obtained indicated the acceptable accuracy of the dielectric technique combined with the ANN model.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":"1-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/13/2019-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47235492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have conducted theoretical and experimental studies of the combined cleaning system’s functioning process. By executing the analysis, we found the motion of the fodder beet through the working surfaces of the feeding conveyor and the auger installed above it. We have got an analytical and empirical process model for the fodder beet’s oblique sub-hit on the auger turn. It characterises the dependence of the total rate of the sub-hit coefficient of the technological interaction of the roots and the depth of the root damage, which depend on the main parameters of the combined cleaning system. We found out the rational limits of the basic structural and kinematic parameters of the combined cleaning system by the provided minimum fodder beet damage. It is theoretically justified that the minimum damage to roots of the beet roots will be at a contact angle of zero (γ ≅ 0) or close to it. This condition is protected with the following combinations of parameters: a screw diameter of D = 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 m and a screw speed of n = 99, 72, 50 rpm, respectively.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/75/2017-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44048758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The kenaf samples were subjected to a uniaxial compression test between two parallel plates at a loading rate of 20 mm·min–1 and a uniaxial bending test between two supports on each end at a loading rate of 50 mm·min–1 using a Universal Instron Testing Machine (Instron, USA). The results of the parameters studied revealed that Tianung 1 gave the higher stem height, stem diameter, compressive stress, bending stress, rupture load, rupture energy, Young’s modulus, and toughness, which were 293.10 cm, 18.45 mm, 8.70 MPa, 44.86 MPa, 191.51 N, 3.43 J·mm–2, 350.81 MPa, and 6.85 N·mm–1, respectively, at four months after planting. The parameters studied significantly increased with maturity for the two kenaf varieties. However, the moisture content significantly reduced with maturity.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"65 1","pages":"131-136"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/34/2019-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44279919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of transportation factors including the vibration frequencies (17 and 20 Hz), the vibration time (15 and 30 minutes), the fruit cultivar (Shahroudi and Urdoobad), and the package type (2 types) on the apricot damage. An electro-dynamic lab vibration simulator was used to simulate the road transportation and a fruit damage index (FDI) was used as a criterion to evaluate the damage based on the classifying bruises into five different categories. The statistical analysis indicated that, except for the package type, the other factors (apricot cultivar, frequency, and vibration duration) had a significant effect on the FDI (P < 0.01). The vibration damages considerably changed by the apricot cultivar and increased by the frequency and duration. The results indicated that the Urdoobad cultivar was more resistant to the damage and could be used for export purposes to transport in distances more than 1,000 km. The maximum damages occurred at a frequency and duration of 17 Hz and 30 min in the Shahroudi cultivar, respectively.","PeriodicalId":20906,"journal":{"name":"Research in Agricultural Engineering","volume":"65 1","pages":"112-122"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.17221/12/2019-rae","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47547209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
