To optimize TWCs and internal wavelengths related to an OPS design cost, we proposed a scheduling algorithm for the limited TWCs and internal wavelengths. For three TWC alternatives (not shared, partially shared, and fully shared cases), the optimum numbers of TWCs and internal wavelengths to guarantee minimum packet loss are evaluated to prevent resource waste. Under a given load, TWCs and internal wavelengths could be significantly reduced, guaranteeing the same packet loss as the performance of an OPS with full TWCs and internal wavelengths","PeriodicalId":208725,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132333354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper recent progress of several all optical 2R experimental systems focused on single and multi-channel approaches will be reported. The problem of providing QoS in such a scenario has been widely discussed and several solutions have been provided. They mainly suggest the use of some form of resources reservation on top of the contention resolution algorithm in order to isolate the higher priority traffic from the lower one. Recently we propose the novel technique called SCWS and evaluated it in a single node scenario. SCWS consists of implementing different contention resolution algorithms, each one specifically designed to cope with the requirements of a given priority traffic. In this paper we analyze the performance results when applying SCWS technique in a network scenario. Obtained results highlight the merits of such technique","PeriodicalId":208725,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132172526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
