Phase shifting is achieved by using GaAs MESFETs to switch the circuit transfer function from high pass to low pass and vice versa. This article presents precise methodologies to model a variety of proximity coupled transitions which may be instrumental in the design of MIC and MMIC components. Two specific structures are investigated, which are a two-level microstrip-microstrip transition and a slot-coupled microstrip-microstrip transition. The analysis is based on solving coupled integral equations by method of moments. In the formulation, the Green's function for the grounded dielectric substrate is used, which takes into account all the radiation, surface wave and material effects. Meanwhile, mutual coupling due to dominant as well as higher order modes is automatically included in the method of moments solution. Numerical results are illustrated for the energy distribution as a function of offset, stub length or slot dimensions.","PeriodicalId":208245,"journal":{"name":"1987 17th European Microwave Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131355610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design consists of a pair of TX and RX antennas (4/6 GHz) based on dep1oyab1e dual gridded reflectors having diameters of 2.3 m and 1.4 m respectively with a total of 100 horns. The design of the antennas is compatible with the Eurostar bus and Ariane IV Spelda 10 launcher. Eight shaped beams are formed (2 UP-link, 6 DN-link) by using orthogonal linear polarizations. Reconfigurability is allowed for most of the 24 channels (40 MHz each). A 12 horn feed array system, based on light weight stepped horns and dual mode \"TEM line\" Beam Forming Network, has been developed and tested.","PeriodicalId":208245,"journal":{"name":"1987 17th European Microwave Conference","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115661320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It differs significantly from traditional microwave filters at lower frequencies subsequent upon a very simple arrangement which is well-suited for milled splitblock waveguide design. The band-pass filter consists of a circumferential waveguide section with three rotationally symmetrical feeding arms. One of them includes a slide which shorts the waveguide ring and thus cuts it into two halves. Consequently, the layout represents two short- and one open-circuited resonance lines. A bandwidth of more than 10 per cent and an insertion loss of typically 1 dB have been measured at a center frequency of 93 GHz.","PeriodicalId":208245,"journal":{"name":"1987 17th European Microwave Conference","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121046258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The accuracy of the ray optical calculations can be improved substantially without appreciably increasing complexity by modifying the ray paths with the inclusion of the lateral shifts on the boundaries. Here this modification is applied to the canonical problem presented by a two-dimensional homogeneous wedge. The interrelations between the laterally shifted ray representation and the recently developped exact integral representation for the wedge are investigated. The latter is utilized as a reference solution to reveal the analytical approximations implicit in the ray construction and to test the numerical accuracy and the ranges of validity of the ray optical calculations.","PeriodicalId":208245,"journal":{"name":"1987 17th European Microwave Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126111806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
