The autonomous nature of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) classifies them as an effective solution to address emergency situation scenarios, such as rescue or disaster relief operations that take place in hostile and hazardous environments. This paper proposes a multipath approach based on the proactive Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol called RESCUE OLSR (R-OLSR), designed as an initial approach of the EU-ICT RESCUE project. The protocol exploits its capability to identify and transmit data via multiple paths based on two different relay approaches named Simple Relay Routing (SRR) and Advanced Relay Routing (ARR). The protocol's efficiency is substantiated through a simulation scenario within a MANET using the NS-3 simulator. The acquired results indicate that a partial flooding of data increases the probability of receiving correct packets, improving the transmission reliability and routing performance.","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"175 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133455493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, the trend of Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), which refers to the use of cloud-based software for carrying out network functions, is expected to modify this scenario. The EU FP7 T-NOVA project has the goal of providing mechanisms to foster the adoption of NFV. In this paper, we present a look in the commercialisation of NFV-based offerings through a marketplace, in which users can trade, auction, select and acquire NFV services. In this respect, a brokering mechanism was developed that is able to facilitate competition among Function Providers (FPs), allowing the T-NOVA customers to search for available offerings, trade between the third-party function developers (FPs) and finally the Service Provider (SP) to find the best price for the VNFs, which will be part of each T-NOVA Network Service.","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124588340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the traditional LPDA geometry, where all dipoles are considered to be inside the same angular sector, the proposed LPDA adopts an exponential geometry, described by two parameters called exponential scale factor and exponential relative spacing. By properly adjusting these two parameters, the exponential LPDA (ELPDA) geometry obtains wideband behavior with excellent radiation characteristics. A near optimal ELPDA geometry that achieves the desired radiation characteristics inside the required bandwidth is found in the present work by applying a recently developed method called invasive weed optimization (IWO). In particular, the ELPDA is required to operate in the 800-3300MHz frequency range under specific constraints concerning standing wave ratio, forward gain, gain flatness, front-to-back ratio and side lobe level. A comparison with a traditional LPDA of the same total antenna length exhibits the superiority of the proposed geometry.","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123433112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their main drawback is the high envelope fluctuations of the transmitted signals, which leads to amplification difficulties and inefficiencies that are especially important in satellite communications. Constant envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) techniques appear as a solution to those amplification problems since they are compatible with low-cost and highly efficient strongly nonlinear amplifiers. The basic idea behind CE-OFDM is to use the OFDM signal to modulate the phase of a given carrier. However, CE-OFDM is a nonlinear modulation and receivers based on phase demodulation can be far from optimum. In this paper we study analytically the optimum asymptotic performance of CE-OFDM schemes. It is shown that the optimum performance of CE-OFDM can be substantially better than the performance of ideal linear OFDM schemes, especially for frequency-selective channels.1","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122704505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recent technological advances and popular applications, like mobile devices and social networks, generate huge quantities of data that keep growing in exponential mode. Unstructured social media data, distributed in multiple computer systems, act as sources of both relevant and irrelevant information. References of an e-commerce site in social media applications act like advertising and may generate traffic and improve revenue. Both traffic and revenue are measured by the Analytics Application in order to evaluate the impact factor of each medium. Postings containing direct links to preselected specific product lists, groups of products or special offers are automatically generated and posted using the available Application Programming Interfaces of the social media services. Big data techniques allow the dissemination of metrics and visualizations of performance and statistical reports and evaluations in near real time. Issues regarding data replication, data transfer and selection are presented.","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131731381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed work goes a step further and offers multiple-server support to Over-The-Top dynamic adaptive streaming applications: Multiple-Description DASH. This innovative lightweight streaming protocol takes advantage of bandwidth from multiple links by simultaneously retrieving video segments from several sources in different locations. Thanks to its codec agnosticism, DASH-compliance, and receiver-driven philosophy, our work presents a pragmatic and evolving solution that has been implemented and tested over the Internet. While Multiple-Description DASH comes at the cost of a tunable bandwidth consumption overhead, preliminary results demonstrate the strong QoE advantages against a standard DASH solution in terms of content quality and buffer occupancy on end-user side.","PeriodicalId":208224,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Telecommunications and Multimedia (TEMU)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133151451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
