The development of devices that can connect to the Internet and transmit data has been a source of inspiration for smart city designs. The common problem in our cities is the difficulty of finding free parking slots. The parking problem causes traffic to congest and people who go to work are looking for a place. In this study, a navigation and reservation based parking proposal system was developed for smart cities. The proposed method involves the development of small devices that send data to the internet using the internet of things (IoT) technology. The free parking space closest to the current location is found by genetic algorithm. The proposed method is tested for different scenarios and accurate results are obtained.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134122238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently in Iran, TOU-DR program has been initiated by installing three-tariff smart meters, especially for residential complexes. The use of appropriate tariffs in different load time periods, i.e. peak-load, normal-load, and low-load conditions, is of great importance. Tariff pricing should be done such that not only load curves are improved, but the customers satisfaction is also met. In this paper, by modeling the reaction of customers, two new methods are proposed and compared for optimal pricing of electricity tariffs. The proposed techniques are employed on Iran's national power load curve in obtained in 2014. In this research, it is assumed that the system operator has the high and low limits of electricity costs in different time periods. The proposed method is simulated using General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) optimization software. The obtained results validate the proposed method effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124582270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is demonstrated that the proposed smart adaptive controller is capable of instructing fast frequency response by proper coordination of the dispatch of RESs units such as, mini-hydro, Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and standby diesel generators. In particular, the BESS used as power reserve, at the early stage of fault events can prevent detrimental and uncontrollable system frequency decline and the extent of load shedding. In summary, the performance of a centralized controller in terms of a fast frequency response recovery feature is validated for an actual microgrid distribution network of Malaysia. The demonstration of this intelligent control scheme highlights the advantage of utilizing the fast power recovery response of energy storage and standby generator, which fulfil the criteria for minimal load shedding from the main grid, during the unintentional microgrid islanding conditions.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122998613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that manner, it is very crucial to plan the delivery of power from all generation sources to meet rapidly growing demand considering clean and sustainable grid and low-cost investment. This paper presents a multistage methodology to handle uncertainties of wind and load for transmission expansion and reactive power planning. In the first, TEP is performed considering N-1 security. In the RPP stages, the capacitors and static var compensators are considered for normal and contingency conditions, respectively. The scenarios based on corresponding confidence intervals of load and wind with certain accuracy are used in each stage. Finally, the obtained network is tested using AC-OPF under worst scenarios to determine whether reinforcement is required or not to avoid any violation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using the IEEE-24 test network.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125472124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an artificial neural networks based methodology is proposed for predicting the power system stability directly after clearing the fault. A dataset is generated to train a multilayer perceptron off-line, which is then used for early online prediction of any transient instability. The neural network is fed by the inputs, which are the pre-fault, during-fault, and post-fault voltage magnitude measurements collected from the phasor measurement units. The success and the effectiveness of the proposed method are demonstrated, as it is applied to the 37-generator 127-bus power test system and an accuracy above 99% is obtained in the early prediction of transient instabilities.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127846815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Prosumers are those energy consumers who also produce energy and can share it with grid or other users. Demand-supply gap can be smartly minimized by energy sharing and management with integration of storage system at end users in smart grid environment. In this paper, prosumer based energy sharing and management model with integration of storage system is presented. MATLAB simulations have been performed for validation of the proposed model. Results show that if users are equipped with storage system then demand-supply gap can be reduced remarkably.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122017237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An Energy Provider (EP) and Energy User (EU) are both looking to achieve savings. A Real-Time (RT) Demand Response (DR) pricing mechanism can reduce an EUs' bill and at the same time reduce the overall peak demand and Peak to Average Ratio (PAR) so that EP save their cost. In this paper, we will provide a model that uses a Price Suggestion Unit (pSU) and Price Control Unit (PCU) that provides Real-Time Price suggestions in the SG; we tested the model with a simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) algorithm considering the threshold energy consumption with real data by using a stochastic iterative process. The EU has a choice to respond to the price suggestion. However, if they are non-responsive still they can still save on their bill in terms of taking advantage of the overall responses of other EUs.","PeriodicalId":207857,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Istanbul Smart Grid and Cities Congress and Fair (ICSG)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125148947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
