Il sera constitué de riches constructions composées d’éléments multimodaux subtilement façonnés qui auront des fonctions communicatives multiples. Dans ce chapitre, nous retraçons le cheminement des enfants dans leur acquisition des formes plurisémiotiques du langage grâce à l’étayage des experts (adultes et enfants plus âgés) qui les entourent. Nous commencerons par une revue de travaux et un positionnement théorique rapides afin de montrer pourquoi il est important de prendre en compte la dimension multimodale dans l’acquisition du langage. Nous donnerons ensuite des exemples décrivant les premiers bourgeons multimodaux produits par l’enfant qui contiennent des éléments vocaux et gestuels. Grâce aux reformulations de l’adulte en dialogue, des modèles de productions cibles sont fournis à l’enfant et le guident dans son processus d’appropriation. Nous montrons comment les premiers bourgeons fleurissent pour se transformer en constructions complexes qui peuvent contenir des formes non standard créatives et comment elles se stabilisent enfin pour former des énoncés multimodaux dans lesquels les modalités tissent les unes avec les autres des fonctions sémantiques et pragmatiques subtilement nouées. Nous nous appuyons pour cela sur un corpus videographique d’interactions didactiques transcrit et annote a l’aide du logiciel ELAN, facilitant l’analyse conjointe des interactions verbales et de la proxemie professorale.
