This paper assesses Nepal’s industrial policies, emphasizing the need for improvements, export promotion, and human capital development while recognizing the importance of strategic planning and context-specific approaches for economic growth, stability, and development. The analytical and descriptive approaches have been applied to analyze the data by collecting secondary data sources that include official publications, which encompass 47 time series variables from 1974 to 2020. The findings provide mixed evidence for the economic impacts of liberalization, with exports and liberalization driving overall GDP growth. In contrast, other factors like economic openness, tourism, and their relationship with industrial GDP remain statistically insignificant. The paper indicates that remittances and investment have the most substantial impact on GDP, raising it by 1.86 and 1.21 units per unit increase, respectively. Exports have a moderate impact on industrial GDP (0.403 units). Export-oriented industries and tourism lack significant associations with either type of GDP. Liberalization significantly boosted both GDP and industrial GDP, with an increase of 179465.3 and 49595.62 units, respectively. Imports also jumped post-liberalization, driven by higher remittances as 1.215 units per unit increase. This study on industrial policies in developing economies, focusing on Nepal, adds valuable insights. The findings can ensure policymaking, boost economic growth, and strengthen Nepal’s industrial sector.","PeriodicalId":20521,"journal":{"name":"Problems and perspectives in management","volume":"9 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139776393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to discern dissimilarities in implementing corporate social responsibility initiatives between Slovak and Czech companies, addressing the triple bottom line framework. This approach is a metric for evaluating a company’s achievement across three dimensions: social, environmental, and economic. The study is predicated on a questionnaire survey conducted among a sample of 180 Slovak and 180 Czech companies operating as subsidiaries of multinational corporations as typical implementers of corporate social responsibility activities in emerging economies. Following the triple bottom line framework, three distinct sets of variables were formulated to account for social, environmental, and economic activities using the Mann-Whitney U Test to ascertain statistically significant disparities between Slovak and Czech companies. The findings indicate that the surveyed companies from monitored countries exhibited no notable distinctions in environmental endeavors. However, discrepancies were discerned in economic activities, specifically relating to post-sales or post-warranty customer services, which was significant with a small effect size (0.19). In social activities, significant differences were observed concerning adherence to the principle of equal opportunities in the workplace. Thus, this study looks at social and psychological traits and uncertainty avoidance as moderating factors to identify the factors influencing Indonesian citizens’ adoption of e-government. A purposive sampling approach based on self-selection was used in this study. On the other hand, complexity (β= –0.293; p < 0.05) significantly and negatively affects their intention to use the system. Individualized solutions based on the demographics of the village, including financial support, business partners and markets, human resources, sociocultural ecology, and natural resources, are required for economic development. By collecting data from 179 village heads in South Papua province, Indonesia, this study determines that several elements substantially impact the economic empowerment of communities. However, these factors have not been fully optimized to attain economic independence of villages. With the assistance of regular support from the district government, most village heads are graduates who can effectively plan and implement programs. The distinctive qualities of a community are considered in sociocultural development programs. The development of natural resources and tourism are continuing processes that require market access and infrastructure improvement. Human resources are promising, and sociocultural initiatives align with community requirements. Therefore, addressing the problems associated with market access and resource development is vital. Village funds should promote the use of resources in a sustainable manner; however, there are still obstacles to engaging corporate land users, which calls for further investigation.","PeriodicalId":20521,"journal":{"name":"Problems and perspectives in management","volume":"417 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140479981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These five forms of capital play a crucial role in improving the performance of women entrepreneurs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of these five forms of capital on the performance of women entrepreneurs, both directly and indirectly, through the adoption of digital technology. The analysis was conducted in 38 regencies/cities located in East Java Province, Indonesia, and comprised 268 women entrepreneurs from various business sectors. Following this, the primary data source was collected through the distribution of questionnaires, and the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was utilized to assess both the direct and indirect effects of the observed capitals using SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results showed that only social capital had a direct and significant effect on the performance of women entrepreneurs. However, human, financial, physical, and intellectual capital were found to significantly affect the performance of entrepreneurs indirectly through the mediation of the adoption of digital technology. It is also expedient to acknowledge that among the observed variables, financial capital was found to be the most important (19%). These results offered practical understanding for women entrepreneurs on strategies to increase their business income and access loans from financial institutions and government assistance.\u0000AcknowledgmentThe authors are grateful to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia for funding this research.","PeriodicalId":20521,"journal":{"name":"Problems and perspectives in management","volume":"28 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140482376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
