A decrease in microphone potentials with a subsequent slow restitution to the initial values was observed. The results of the mechanical manipulation were compared with the effect of white noise, intensity 120 dB. Twenty cases occurred after ear surgery in our clinic. The incidence is 2.6%. Surgery for facial palsy was performed in 14 cases and improvement was obtained in 11 out of the 14. Electromyographic examination was done in all cases. Surgery for postoperative facial palsy is indicated in those cases in which no voluntary activity is observed at the end of the third week after operative injury.
