It utilizes a slurry phase feed containing an iron-based disposable additive. This paper reports eight runs done using slurry feed containing 30% Rheinish brown coal and the vacuum towers bottoms. These runs were designed to examine the effects of slurry space velocity, reactor temperatures and recycle gas rate. The approach used in this work is to measure the rate of vanadium transport to a basic oxide vanadium trap in fluid bed experiments. By varying the particle size distribution, the collision frequency can be changed and the rate of transport determined.
