In this way it is possible to define priorities for single network elements’ restore following relevant events such as earthquakes. The model was developed within a project with the Italian Civil Protection Department following the earthquakes occurred in central Italy in 2016. The planning and programming of the interventions arises from the need to restore in the shortest time the ordinary people mobility within the territory; in the meantime it is also necessary to guarantee the operational needs of the Civil Protection, such as the transport and construction of temporary housing for the population. The proposed model considers the development of 5 quantitative indicators to characterize the transport importance of the network links deciding the priority of the interventions. These indicators take into account, for example, the link flow, the number of paths over a link and the Origin/Destination pairs satisfied. In this way it is possible to assess the impact that the restore of a network link could have on one or more routes and generally on the whole road network. The model can be considered as a Decision Support System that can be used to plan and schedule the restore of a road network according to specific needs.","PeriodicalId":201963,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 30th European Safety and Reliability Conference and 15th Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management Conference","volume":"336 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116547487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An Empirical Approach to Reliability-based Design using Scenario Optimization 基于场景优化的可靠性设计经验方法

Crespo","doi":"10.3850/978-981-14-8593-0_4775-CD","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3850/978-981-14-8593-0_4775-CD","url":null,"abstract":"Scenario-based approaches to Reliability-Based Design-Optimization were recently proposed by the authors, Rocchetta et al. (2019). Scenario theory makes direct use of the available data thereby eliminating the need for creating a probabilistic model of the uncertainty in the parameters. This feature makes the resulting design exempt from the subjectivity caused by prescribing an uncertainty model from insufficient data. Most importantly, scenario theory renders a formally verifiable bound to the probability of failure. This bound is non-asymptotic and holds for any probabilistic model consistent with the available data. In this article we seek designs that minimize a combination of cost and penalty terms caused by violating reliability constraints. Similar to Conditional-Valueat-Risk programs, the proposed optimization approach is convex, thereby easing its numerical implementation. As opposite to a Conditional-Value-at-Risk method, a model for the uncertainty is not required and the method provides bounds on the reliability, which is valuable information to assess the robustness of the prescribed design. Furthermore, the proposed approach enables the analyst to shape the distribution of the design’s performance according to a given value-at-risk. This is done by minimizing the empirical approximation of the integral of the design’s performance in the loss/failure region. The effectiveness of the approach is tested on an easily reproducible numerical example with its strengths discussed in comparison to traditional methods.","PeriodicalId":201963,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 30th European Safety and Reliability Conference and 15th Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132017298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the WorkingAge (Smart Working Environments for All Ages - WA) project, which focuses on innovative Human Computer Interaction methods (such as augmented and/or virtual reality or gesture/voice/noise recognition or gaze tracking) to improve the users’ psychological/emotional/health state at workplaces. Based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and on data driven models of the users’ characteristics and behaviors, the WA Tool will monitor the state of users to automatically provide a set of suggestions promoting healthy habits in their working environment as well as in their daily living activities. The paper presents general concepts at the basis of the WA project, its hardware-software sensor architecture, and the elements of the ontology capturing the key concepts of the data collected to profile the users.","PeriodicalId":201963,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 30th European Safety and Reliability Conference and 15th Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management Conference","volume":"121 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126321866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
