Immunological and biological properties.","authors":"R Utzinger","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

Relationship of the isoforms of F antigens from A2G and CBA inbred mouse strains have been worked out in detail in respect to their immunogenicity. Mice from several inbred strains have been shown to possess the ability of forming anti-F upon stimulation with xenogeneic F antigens from certain species. An immunoelectrophoretic method for sensitive quantitation of the antigen is described. During human ontogenesis the antigen appears very early. It could never be detected in serum except in cases of acute liver disease. A small fragment set free under denaturing conditions showed the ability of inhibiting precipitation of the complete antigen by antibody. The F protein seems to be a vehicle for this small fragment possessing haptenic properties and probably being responsible for the universal cross-reactivity.
","PeriodicalId":19854,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia et microbiologia","volume":"42 2","pages":"92-102"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1975-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"11274027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The chick embryos were administered with 0.015 mg/egg of lead acetate at day 2. The most pronounced changes observed in the ventricle were: malformed mitochondria, disorganized, short and scanty myofibrils and abundance of swollen vacuoles. The ultrastructure of the ventricle from the control chick embryos was normal. The most frequent change noted in the ventricular tissue was an alteration in the myofibrils. This study indicates that electron microscopic changes can be induced in the embryonic chick heart ventricle by lead poisoning.
","PeriodicalId":19854,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia et microbiologia","volume":"42 3","pages":"188-94"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1975-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1159/000162738","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12365530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This material includes normal pregnancies as well as cases of maternal diabetes with and without hypertension and cases of hypertension in EPH-gestosis. The different parts of the arterial system (spiral arteries, basal arteries, radial arteries) are separately investigated. Physiologically, the pregnancy induces changes in the wall of the decidual arteries and possibly in the distal part of the radial arteries. The fibromuscular layer including the elastic fibers were destructed and replaced by fibrin and connective tissue. For this reason, in these parts of arteries it is very difficult to separate pathological from physiological changes.
","PeriodicalId":19854,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia et microbiologia","volume":"43 1","pages":"38-61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1975-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12402523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The availability of methods for the detection of soluble immune complexes opens new paths for clinical investigation in this field.
