Previously fieldwork was carried out to monitor the accumulation of marine debris at a sequence of spots along the Eastern coast of the Sea of Azov (within the confines of the Russian Federation). A significant presence of polyurethane foam (PUF) in plastic waste was revealed. The purpose of this work was to identify the main ways of PUF supply to the coastal zones of the Sea of Azov, as well as the likely influence of such natural factors as the level of insolation and temperature regime on the process of PUF degradation. Natural factors were considered in the context of local climatic belts. The study examines the PUF presence in the river’s coastal zone and the surface layer of the river Don. Large fragments of the MP were identified in accumulations of drifting debris. PUF micro-sized particles were detected in all water samples taken in the water area of the river Don delta and Taganrog Bay. Based on the observations from the river Don, it was shown that the main channel for the entry of PUF into the marine area and subsequent transfer to the coast are large plain rivers. The light density from the UV component of the sunlight for the moderately warm climatic belts II7 and II9 of the Sea of Azov coast has been calculated. Based on the experimental data, it was shown that PUF degrades rather rapidly under the influence of natural factors typical of the coast of the Sea of Azov. In this case, the degradation of large porous PUF fragments leads to their fragmentation into multiple microplastics and their compaction. The occurrence of such processes requires special attention from environmentalists and regulatory authorities.","PeriodicalId":197954,"journal":{"name":"Ecology. Economy. Optimization of the socio-ecological conditions of modern urbanized territories is the most important task of ensuring sustainable urban development. For a comprehensive study of the socio-environmental conditions of the territory of Central Russia, the data of the Federal Information Fund for Socio-Hygienic Monitoring, conducted on the basis of the Federal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, was analyzed. The analysis of the obtained data shows the need to create a special system for optimizing socio-environmental conditions, which will be based on socio-environmental monitoring based on geoinformation technologies. This monitoring should be a multifunctional subsystem that interacts with other subsystems of the unified state environmental monitoring system. The main objective of the measures aimed at optimizing the socio-ecological conditions of the cities of Central Russia is to minimize the content of pollutants in the atmosphere (as the main natural environment that forms environmental risk zones) – derivatives of the technological pressure of the city. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to implement 3 main tasks on the territory of large cities of Central Russia: 1. To modernize the transport networks of cities with an increase in their capacity, the quality of the road surface, the average speed of vehicles. 2. To minimize atmospheric emissions of thermal power plants and a number of other industrial facilities. 3. To carry out measures for greening the urban space.","PeriodicalId":197954,"journal":{"name":"Ecology. Economy. It shows the impact on the environment as a result of past economic activity on the territory of the Norilsk industrial district, as well as possible changes in the sphere of traditional nature management in connection with an emergency oil spill. It is proposed to divide the assessment of negative effects on the environment and the traditional way of life of indigenous peoples associated with past economic activities and changes caused by the current impact of accidental pollution and its consequences on the ethnic group and the traditional way of life of the local population. The stages and content of ethnological expertise of changes in the native habitat of indigenous peoples on the territory of the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk territory due to an emergency oil spill are considered. The assessment of possible harm to small indigenous peoples for subsequent compensation is proposed to be determined on the basis of reduced resource productivity of the territory and lost profits for certain types of traditional nature use. The zone of withdrawal of the territories of traditional nature use area stress should be determined on the basis of instrumental measurements of the level of environmental pollution (water, soil, etc.). Holding the ethnological expertise in connection with environmental pollution on the territories of traditional nature use, including the assessment and compensation of the caused harm, allows to harmonize the interests of all stakeholders to minimize ecological, economic and social risks in the field of natural use.","PeriodicalId":197954,"journal":{"name":"Ecology.
