Quality of Service (QoS) is a challenging issue of O BS network and several techniques have been proposed with some limitations. The existing schemes do not guarantees, end to end, loss free delivery of high priority data bursts in Differentiated Services (DiffServ). The proposed algorithm is aimed at loss free delivery of high priority burst inside the OBS network. For high delay sensitive data (most high priority data) a separate wavelength is assigned efficiently on any node by synchronizing all core by a single clock which assures no wavelength contention occurs in the core network. The customer premises equipment consumes 65% of the total power. We propose a cross layer model for saving energy in the optical network units (ONU). Our solution involves analysis of TCP traffic by extracting session information from the traffic and determining idle times between sessions. These idle times allow us to turn-off the laser diodes in ONUs at the user end. The Fabry-perot laser diodes (FP) typically run on 10mA of current and produce approximately 2.5 volts of output. By turning off the diode we intend to save energy for periods of time when there is no data to transmit. We also investigate the effects of turning the laser diode on off frequently on the diode itself. Our experimental data shows no significant degradation in the output power stability. The model is applied to calculate the differential modal gain (DMG) and linewidth enhancement factor (LEF) of the Qdash laser. In addition, the effect of varying the Qdash height on these dynamic parameters is evaluated. The model predicts a decrease in the differential modal gain with increase in the Qdash height while the LEF value generally does not get affected. We also propose and demonstrate the concepts of novel single- and multi-wavelength tunable laser structures employing Opto-VLSI technology in conjunction with optical amplifiers. However, most existing studies in this space have only looked at the interactions between secondary users, without considering the impact of primary user behaviors. Along these lines, this study proposes a novel realistic primary-secondary game-theoretic scheme which rewards primary users who share their spectrum and allow secondary users to achieve energy-efficient transmissions. The proposed model is analyzed for Rayleigh fast-fading channels where a closed-form expression is also derived for the average utility function. The existence of a unique Nash equilibrium is also shown.
