The research was carried out through five sequential steps: (i) construction and validation of the research instrument; (ii) definition of the sample size and sampling procedures; (iii) data collection; (iv) data analysis and interpretation of results; and (v) elaboration of recommendations. A research instrument containing 44 questions was built and distributed among potential respondents, obtaining 87 valid answers, which corresponds to a statistically representative sample for the parameters adopted.Findings: Our sample was divided into two subsets, representing the Industrial and Commerce sectors. Resilience assessment accounted for four dimensions: the ability to respond, to anticipate, to monitor, and to learn. Results for both sectors showed scores ranging from 3.4 to 3.7 (out of 5) in the four dimensions evaluated. This reveals both sectors have been developing practices that positively contribute to the improvement of resilience, although there are opportunities for improvement.Originality/value: This research sheds light on the resilience ability of the cases surveyed, enabling managers to take action to strengthen their organizations and overcome crises and adversities. Additionally, our findings demonstrate how resilience abilities can be assessed, considering the scope of an economic sector and a geographical area. This approach can be adopted by researchers, policymakers, and development agencies to assess the resilience abilities of firms within their sphere of influence.","PeriodicalId":197586,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Administração da UFSM","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140387670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach – To reach our goal, we performed a Systematic Literature Review on live cargo transportation logistics, considering studies published between 2011 and 2021. Findings – The review indicates that the long distances of the routes and the different modes of transport used had considerable influence on the welfare of the animals. Therefore, there is an international trend to reduce long journeys and to assign more relevant information on the geographical origin of products. Research limitations/implications – As limitations of this study, the sample analyzed in the Google Scholar database was small. More studies have been expected for the development of analyses and discussions on the current topic. Practical implications – Efficient and sustainable management can lead to higher financial and non-financial gains for supply chain members and compliance with standards for the appropriate treatment of animals, guaranteeing their well-being and providing superior product quality. Social implications – Live cargo transportation represents an important activity in several food supply chains, and its management may contribute to supply chain sustainability. Originality/value – The findings expand the knowledge available on live animals logistics, care regarding the management of each species, difficulties, barriers, and positive aspects of transport. Sustainability is another theme rarely mentioned in the studies analyzed, thus presenting an important area for future studies regarding sustainable management of the supply chain in transporting this type of load.","PeriodicalId":197586,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Administração da UFSM","volume":"2 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139147336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: this is a case study with a qualitative approach. For data collection, the AGA methodology (Assessment of Degree of Adherence) by Lambert and Cooper (2000), adapted by Simon (2005; 2014) was used. Findings: the results show that the focal company has an \"A\" level of adherence, indicating a high power of influence and performance in chain management, both for the incorporation of innovations aimed at sustainable practices and for monitoring more responsible organizational processes, processes and relationships throughout the supply chain. This elevated level of integration may be associated with the elevated level of vertical integration in the chain, coordinated by the focal company. Research limitations: the results obtained can only be applied to the focal company and cannot be generalized to all companies. In addition, other evaluation metrics and/or endogenous variables not considered in this study may influence the results achieved. Originality/value: the originality of the study converges with the lack of studies that address the application of methodologies for evaluating the degree of interaction in the supply chain in the food industry segment. Thus, it is expected that the results of the study can be used as an instrument for analysis and reflection on the level of integration of supply chains, as well as to identify potential barriers to the implementation of supply chain management practices.","PeriodicalId":197586,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Administração da UFSM","volume":" 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139143473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach: The case study is carried out at a rural property in the municipality of Herval D’Oeste-Santa Catarina, the research is descriptive with qualitative analysis. For the development of the research, the information about the productive process was identified through interviews, the structured script allowed for identification of about 60 metrics and external indicators of the social, environmental, and economic-financial dimensions. Findings: The economic-financial dimension presented the remuneration of labor and invested capital as positive externalities. The social performance indicators (social interaction, human capital, and environmental practices) showed compliance levels in the model. Based on the analysis, negative externalities were identified in the environmental assessment indicators of water, air/greenhouse effect, and energy, highlighting the need for improvements in the production process and in the management of natural resources.
